SHE FELT HER FEET THROB FROM THE UNHOLY DISTANCE THEY HAVE WALKED, but she daren't voice her complaints because she knew they were going to be mercilessly shot down by her group's hard-headed slave-driver.

Said inu walked ahead of her, hand resting on the hilt of Tensaiga and nose sniffing around for a whif of a certain demon's scent. They have been walking for a little under a week, and as of yet, it seemed the yokai they have been assigned to kill had slipped under their radar 一 and it began to annoy them quite a bit.

"Inuyasha." The miko's friend, Sango, called out to the inu-hanyo, looking up at the now pink and orange sky. "Dusk is nearing. We must rest."

With his ears perked up high, he looked ready to shoot another comment when he whipped around, staring into the far distance of the trees. Without waiting to give an explanation to his friends, he grabbed Kagome's waist一throwing her over his shoulder一and ran in said direction.

Struggling against his grasp, the black haired young woman blurted out, "Inuyasha, what has gotten into you?!"

But he didn't even flinch at the yelled words in his ears and gave her a simple, one worded reply.

"Blood."

She silenced herself. Was it a hint to the demon the have been hunting? Or was it just a one-sided massacre that had the word "bandits" written all over it? The miko honestly could not tell black from white in this situation, choosing to stay neutral. But her neutral status soon flew out the window as she felt the creature's aura.

It wasn't a demon, and the thought made her shiver. How could such a dark and evil intended creature not be a demon?

"Inuyasha!" She yelled, the distress in her voice loud and clear for him to hear. "That一 That thing isn't a demon!"

The silver haired hanyo seemed to trip over his mate's words, but it was too quick to catch with the human eye. "Then what the hell is it?!" He yelled, exhaustion from days of travel and sleep deprivation combined with frustration did not make his temperament subdue.

"I don't know!" But her response was too late as they have already jumped from the tree line, coming face to face with a creature from the nightmares they had as children.

Large, beady yellow eyes stared at them from a white face covered in red markings, a face that resembled a mask more that flesh; an abnormally large body whose skin held a greenish tint一in the middle of its abdomen, right below its ribcage, a circular section through it made seeing the distant houses behind it possible一and a long tail, on which fish like fins ran down from the top of its spine.
