As a child my father would take me outside on nights when the sky was clear to marvel at the galaxies above us. He'd point out the various constellations and nebulas, that brilliant expanse of glowing stardust, reciting their stories to my wide, wondering eyes.
And yet somehow, the very thought of space itself terrified me as my little mind grappled with the sheer size of it all. So vast, seemingly endless, full of peril and illusion, where a slight miscalculation could send a ship spiraling into oblivion - never to be heard from again.
One night my parents didn't return home from those stars, and I was left below, wondering what made them stay.
Until the day I dared to see for myself, to face my worst fears with a makeshift spacecraft, the confidence in my fuel levels being the only thing which kept my hands steady as I manned the controls.
Ever since I've been left with a strange relationship with the sky above, I hold the utmost respect for it, but like a sailor who cannot swim I accepted the risk involved and the thrill sparked something within myself I couldn't quite name.
I am known as Ghost.
This is my story.
