A couple weeks had passed. I was doing pretty well in all of my classes, except for elemental magic. I managed to let out of few miserable sparks but it was like I just couldn't tap into that power without being around Killian.
Speaking of Killian, he had been really quiet with me for the last couple of weeks. The personal emails had stopped and he didn't seem to have much to do with me. I hoped I hadn't somehow got him in trouble.

I sat in Killians class, taking notes. He had a test coming up and I was determined not to fail it. However, I also had tests in math, and science from my regular school work to do this week so it was going to be a challenge to juggle it all.
"No homework tonight, just review your study guide." Killian said as the bell rang. "Miss Stark, I need to see you for a moment." He said. My heart fluttered. He'd hardly looked at me for weeks. Finally he was going to speak to me.
"Yes, sir." I said and while everyone else left, I slowly packed my backpack. Killian sat at his desk. I stood up throwing my backpack over my shoulder and walked over to the desk.

"Hey." I smiled. He looked up at me, almost sternly, successfully wiping the smile off my face. "You asked to see me?" I asked.
"I did, it's about your report that you emailed me this morning."
"Oh, I know it was early..I was up all night working on that and my other school work. Sorry if it was too early I just wanted to make sure I sent it in before it was past due."
"The time isn't the issue, Miss Stark. You sent me a thesis on the marketing of US bonds during world war two. And while it is an interesting read, its not the topic you originally emailed me that you were covering."

"Oh..shit!" I exclaimed.
"Language, Miss Stark." Killian sighed but I was too busy pulling my laptop out of my bag and opening it. I looked through my emails.

"I must have got the files mixed up, I was sending my history teacher my work at the same time and would you believe shes just as confused as you are.." I smiled but he did not look amused.
"You miss your morning coffee or something?" I muttered under my breath.
"I'm sending the correct file to you right now. I'm really sorry. I was just up all night and scatter brained."
"Aye...so it seems. I will look it over, and dock ten points for it being late and I advise you to lighten your workload Miss Stark, you're clearly overwhelmed."

I looked at him and blinked a couple times. Ten points shouldn't have really mattered but for whatever reason it really got under my skin. I shouldn't have expected him to treat me any different then the rest of his class, but the assignment was only technically an hour late.
"Im sorry...have I done something?" I asked.
"Aside from handing in a late assignment? No." Killian shook his head.
"Really? Because it doesn't show. For the last two weeks, any kind of verbal communication from you, has been incredibly condescending, I don't get it. And really? My assignment was an hour late and only because of a really simple mistake, which I apologized for. You're treating me like-"
"I'm treating you like any other student, because that's what you are. You're my student. I'm your teacher. Now, I have work to do, and you have class to attend so get moving." He said, the odd thing about it though, was his eyes were sad almost. They weren't matching the words coming out of his mouth and it was almost as if it pained him to say it.
I scoffed and put my laptop back in my bag.
"See you thursday.." I muttered and walked out of the classroom.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the day, had drug on. I still wasn't getting any closer to finding out how to cure my father's cancer, and I knew the answers I needed were in the restricted section of the library but Belle would not budge anytime I asked her. Killians sudden coldness with me was also putting me in a funk.

"Why so mopey?" August asked me as I pushed my dinner around on my plate with my fork.
I just shrugged.
"Just don't feel good I guess." I muttered.
"Oh.. well maybe you're getting sick?" August asked.
"I don't think so." I sighed. "I'm just tired, I'm going to go back to the dorms.."
"But you didn't eat anything." Ariel frowned.
I shrugged again and stood up and started walking towards the exit. Killian started approaching me, and I just rolled my eyes and made a B-line for Emma. I looked back at Killian, he frowned and went back to his spot and pulled his phone from his pocket.
"Whats up kid?" Emma asked and then shook her head. "Sorry, Sera. I forget you hate being called kid."
"Can I go back to the dorms?" I asked. "Maybe just consider me, counted in the headcount?"
"You okay?" Emma frowned
"I'm just tired. I was up all night working on school work, and I only got an hour of sleep before classes.."
Emma thought for a minute.
"Okay, I'll mark you off on the headcount but I'll be checking on you, so if you are anywhere besides your dorm, big trouble."
"Thanks." I said and walked out of the dining hall and towards my room.

I heard voices coming from the auditorium and slowly crept over there, opening the door slightly and peaking in. Regina was there speaking with another woman.
"I don't know why you are on my case mother! I am just as good as Sera Stark!"
I gasped as the woman launched a fireball at Regina who just barely ducked.
"You need to be better!" She said.
"I am better, she can barely light a candle!" Regina snapped and dodged another fireball.
"She hasn't tapped into her power. Once she does, she'll be a problem for you. I'm trying to prepare you Regina." She said and another fireball blazed past Regina's head.
"Enough!" Regina shouted and a massive ball of red hot flames shot directly at her mother. Who extinguished it with a wave of her hand.
"Holy.." I muttered. Regina's mother looked to the entrance and I quickly ducked out of view and took off running down the hall to mine and Regina's dorm until I was inside safely.
I flopped back on my bed catching my breath.

I looked down at my phone noticing an email from K. Jones. The man had barely spoken to me in two weeks, and now he sends an email? I rolled my eyes and put my phone on my nightstand without even looking at it. I got out of bed, and dug into my dresser finding the PJs I wanted and took them into the bathroom with me.
As the hot water from the shower ran over me, I tried to piece together what I had seen in the auditorium. If that woman was Regina's mother, no wonder Regina was basically satan.

When I got out of the shower and changed into my PJs I climbed back into bed. Curiosity got the best of me and I checked my phone again. I had two more emails from Killian. I sighed and opened them.

Saw you talking to Swan before you left...everything okay?

Since you haven't answered me, I asked Emma if you were okay she said you looked a little rough, I'm assuming you are sleeping. You need it, you put too much on yourself Stark.

In the event that, you just aren't speaking to me...I'm sorry I've been distant with you. Gold told me that he suspected there was something brewing between the two of us. I told him that was outlandish but thought maybe I did need to back off incase I was giving you the wrong idea. I took into account that Emma told me you only got an hour of sleep before classes and I decided to give you back the ten points I took off of your report. Its brilliant by the way.

I sighed and typed back a simple

Thanks...

And put my phone beside me while staring at the wall. I felt my eyes stinging with tears and punched the pillow. My phone started ringing and I looked down at my caller id. It was Gabe.
I hit the answer button and put the phone to my ear.
"Hey Sabrina. Hows it going." He joked. At least it wasn't a Harry Potter joke.
"Fine.. everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah... Its just Dad wasn't feeling well, and went to bed early. He asked me to call you to tell you he loves you."
I was silent as the hot tears slipped out of my eyes. I knew the calls with my father were going to slow down as he got worse.
"Sera?" Gabe asked.
"Yeah?" I choked out.
"Don't cry Ser.." He said but his voice was breaking too. "How is hogwarts?" He asked trying to change the subject.
I laughed just a little but was quiet again.
"Hows..Mr. Jones?" He asked as if he knew what was on my mind. Gabe was always freakishly good at that somehow.
"Why are you asking about my teacher Gabriel?" I snorted.
"I don't know I just thought I should." He said. "Seriously though.. Everything okay over there?"
"Yeah.. Its fine." I said. "Look, I only got one hour of sleep last night before classes. I'm really tired. I'm going to try and get some sleep. Text me to tomorrow morning. I want to know how dads doing."
"Yeah. I will. Get some sleep. Love you loser."
"Love you too asshole." I said and hung up the phone. I looked back at the screen and rolled my eyes at the email from Killian

Go to sleep Stark.

I put my phone on the nightstand and rolled back over in bed. I heard the door open, and the sounds of students chattering in the hallway so I knew Regina was coming back from head count. She closed the door lightly and I heard her shuffling around the room before getting into her bed and she began crying softly. I wanted to say something.. But I didn't know how she would react so I just pretended to be asleep while she cried.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, after breakfast, everyone just kind of hung out in the hallways, or in the dorms. It was Wednesday so there were no classes today. I walked through the hallways with Elsa, and August and as I saw Regina, I thought about what I saw with her mother and I knew I had to say something.
"I'll be right back guys.." I said and walked over to Regina.
"Hey.." I said. Regina looked at me, and then looked back at her group of friends and rolled her eyes.
"What do you want Cara?" Her friends giggled and she smirked.
"You know my name is Sera.." I sighed. "Anyways I was wondering if I could just talk to you for a second...alone."
Regina sighed and looked at her friends. "Be right back." She said and followed me a little ways away from them.
"What?" She hissed.
"I uh.. I was walking back to the dorms last night and I saw you and your mother in the auditorium." I said quietly.
Her face went three different moods in four seconds, she was worried, and then she was sad, and then she was angry.
"Who did you tell?" She snapped and pushed me and suddenly all eyes were on us.
"I didn't tell anyone!" I defended. But she pushed me again.
"That was none of your business!" She snarled shoving me backwards. I hit the floor, and the hallway erupted with laughter.
"I was just trying to help you!" I spat and stood up getting back in her face.
"I don't need help! Especially not help from you!" She sneered and pushed me again. Only this time I snapped and pushed her back.

I turned down the main hallway and most of the students were all in a circle hollering about something.
"Alright, I know there are no classes today, but there's no need for this!" I said as I stormed down the hallway towards the lot of them but they didn't seem to notice me at all. I pushed my way through the pit of students and discovered a bloody brawl in the middle. Sera and Regina were on the floor, slapping and punching at each other. Zelena, came through the students on the other side and sighed heavily.
"Enough!" I boomed, but that didn't seem to stop it, although the other students cheering on the fight went deadly silent, and scattered back to their dorms or anywhere out of my direct line of sight.
"You take that one." Zelena said and pointed to Sera, "I'll take that one." She said and pointed to Regina.
I nodded and rolled my sleeves up. I put my arms around Sera's midsection and pulled her, kicking and screaming away from Regina. Zelena grabbed Regina and we took the two in opposite directions.

"Calm down Stark!" I ordered at the seething girl in my arms as I brought her into my office.
"She pushed me first!" Sera shouted. I sighed and found my first aid kit. "Frankly, I don't care who pushed who right now Miss Stark, so stop shouting."
I said and grabbed some napkins from my desk and an Ice pack from the kit and crouched down in front of Sera I put the napkins over her bloody nose. "Hold these." I instructed and put the ice pack over the bridge of her nose and leaned her forward.
"Are you a doctor too?" She said nasally.
"No, but I was at one point a hot tempered lad, who had many a broken nose that my brother tended to.
"You think its broken?" Sera asked. I pulled the ice pack away for a second.
"Aye." I confirmed and placed it back on her nose. "Why go picking fights with Mills? Or anyone for that matter?"
"I told you, she pushed me. And she just kept pushing me, and it pissed me off so I pushed her back and she hit me in the nose and then I don't really know what happened after that." Sera said.

Emma walked into my office and folded her arms looking at Sera.
"You're in trouble now." I smirked.
Sera glared at me.
"How bad is it?" Emma asked.
"Broken nose.. Theres blood on her arm so she might be cut."
"Thats Regina's.." Sera mumbled.
"Well, then I should ask how Miss Mills is?" I asked and put my hands in my pockets.
"Its not pretty." Emma said and looked at Sera. "Lets go. Your turn and then the three of us are going to have a chat." She said.

"And when you are done with your chat, meet me in the gymnasium." I said.
Emma knew why, I had told her that Gold wanted me to start teaching Sera more about her affinity. Sera was however confused.
"We have a gymnasium?" She asked as Emma lead her out of my office.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About an hour later, Sera walked into the Gymnasium looking around.
"I didn't think I'd ever see you again." I joked. She looked at me, looking me up and down. Instead of my usual, teaching clothes, I wore a black, V-neck tee shirt, and a pair of jeans, with boots.
"You... look different." She said. "I mean.. Its not bad.." She added. "Just...different." She said biting her lip.
"You do too, your nose is less.. Black and blue." I smirked.
"Gold fixed it.." She said.
"And the sentence for your crimes?"
"Emma gave us detention for the next two days.."
"Ah, she went easy on you." I shrugged.
"In Golds office.." She added and sighed.
I winced.
"Ouch."
"That woman.. Is very intimidating when she is angry." Sera mumbled.
I chuckled.
"Oh, I know."

"So.... what am I doing here?" She asked.
"Gold asked me a couple weeks ago, to teach you how to use your affinity. People with matching affinities tend to work well with each other and yours and Ingrid's are complete opposite so Gold thought it be best, we work one on one for a little, on days with no classes."

"You are going to teach me how to control my affinity? Here I thought you were going to tell me I could join the qui-"
"If you say quidditch team.. So help me, I'll give you detention for the rest of the year." I said. She laughed. "So what am I? Your apprentice?" She asked.
"If thats what you want to call it." I shrugged.
"Do I get a pointy star hat?" She asked and gave me a cheeky grin.
"Oh she is just full of jokes today." I said and shook my head.
She grinned and bowed.

------------------------------------------------------------------

As another few weeks went on, Sera was showing her true potential, and it both amazed, and terrified me. The girl was powerful beyond belief, if she could stop being afraid.
"Come on!" I demanded as I held up a wall of fire dividing me and Sera. "I Know you can break through it!"
Sera shook her head dropping to her knees. Exhausted. Sweat dripped from her forehead.
"I can't do it."
"Get up." I snapped.
"Killian I don't know what you want me to do!" She growled in frustration. "I'm trying but I'm not strong enough!"
"I want you to get off of the fucking floor, and show me what I know you can do!" I barked. She looked at me wide eyed.
"Move it!" I shouted. Sera stood, shakily.
"Stop being afraid of it. Stop denying it. This is what you were born for and we will be here all bloody night until you break through this wall!"

Sera took a few deep breaths and held out her hands. She drew her power from the wall of fire in front of her, Her hands, were engulfed, and the fire swirled up her arms. She looked up at me, her whole face was illuminated by the fire, and her eyes looked like there were bright orange.
She slowly stepped forward.
"Come on love.. I know you can do this.." I muttered under my breath. The fire swirling up her arms had almost completely swallowed her but she still walked on. Finally, my phoenix rising from the ashes.

She came to the wall of fire and paused.
"Don't hesitate!" I commanded. "Walk through."
I held my breath as she stepped into the flames. She stumbled, and for a second, I thought that this was going to end horribly.
"Come on." I coached She pushed her way through the wall of dancing flames and the second she made it to my side, her fire went out and she collapsed into me.

"I did it." She panted against my chest.
"I knew you could." I smiled and ran my hands through her hair. Too caught up in the moment to even realize or care. She looked up at me. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were almost black. She pulled me down by my shirt to her lips. Her lips were warm, as was the rest of her, and my lips glided over hers with ease, like they were always meant to be here. I moved my hands from her back to her ass and lifted her, slamming her back into the padded walls of the gym as my lips devoured hers. She parted her lips, letting out the sweetest sigh I'd ever heard and her hands tangled in my black locks. Our tongues danced together in our affinity fueled haze. I'd forgotten about the fire in the gym, and the sprinkler system on the ceiling began raining down on us. I pinned her to the wall with my hips so my hands could snake up her shirt. She pulled her mouth away from mine, and tilted her head back moaning softly as my hands cupped her breasts through her lace bra.
I placed hungry kisses along her jaw as my hips ground into hers. I pulled back, Her desire filled eyes looked into mine through her soaked raven hair.

And then it hit me. This wasn't right. Although it felt too right to ever be wrong.. It couldn't happen. Golds moral compass was fucked, but mine..
"Don't stop. I want it." Sera breathed and her hands went down to the button on my jeans.
"We cant.." I said and shook my head putting my hands over hers before pulling myself away from her.

She looked at me, with a look of heartbreak and confusion.
"What?" She asked.
"We can't do this Sera. I'm terribly sorry I've made a mistake. But this... it can't happen."
"Why not?" Sera asked.
"Because I'm your teacher and you'-"
"Don't you give me that shit!" She screamed at me and shoved me.
"Sera!" I shouted, trying to calm her down.
"You are not a normal teacher, and I am not a normal student. This is a school of magic and we shoot fire from our fucking finger tips! So why the fuck does anyone get to tell us what we can do?!" She screamed and shoved me again. I grabbed her wrists.
"Sera! Listen to me. This isn't right!"
"How could it not be?" She asked and with the sprinklers still raining down on us, I couldn't tell what was tears and what was just water but the way her voice shattered to bits as she asked me that one simple question that I couldn't answer, broke my heart.
"We just can't Sera..I'm sorry."

She shook her head and stormed over to her jacket that was on the floor across the room. I followed her.
"Sera please.." I begged.
"Fuck you!" She shouted at me. "You stay away from me!" She said and pointed her finger at me. "Just stay the fuck away." She repeated and slammed the door to gym open so hard I thought it would break. I sighed heavily and sat down on the floor, letting the cold water ran down on me.
I built her up.. And then I tore her back down...
