Just a little thing you should know before you read. This takes place two years after Ship of the dead. I also just kinda moved the entire timeline of the series so this happens in 2019.

"Annabeth, are you all right?" a soft and sweet voice asked concerned. Annabeth around and looked at girl who asked and said: "What?".
Hazel was walking hand in hand with Frank and gently squeezed his hand. "Do you sense anything wrong?" she said worriedly. "You've been staring at that house for several minutes" Frank added. Usually when demigods senses something wrong, it means that monsters are nearby. But this wasn't the case today. She didn't sense something wrong either. She turned around and looked at the black sign with gold letters forming the words "Twining and Son' Memorial Services". She blinked back a small but still odd memory. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. It's just... this was my cousin's funeral home. A little weird to be here again" she said. Hazel wrinkled her eyebrows, something that made small wrinkles in her forehead. They didn't fit into her young and pretty face. Over the past two years Hazel had grown into a beautiful young woman. Her face was less round and childish and she filled her body better. Kinda like what happened to Frank. "Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't know. I- uh" she shook her head and a lock of hair loosened from her ponytail. "Hazel, it's all right" Annabeth said as she looked at her boyfriend, Percy. "I hadn't seen him for ten years. We didn't really know each other. My uncle got a call from my other uncle who said Magnus had been missing for two years. Of course we took the first flight to Boston, but he died the same day as we began to search for him". She remembered the cold January morning she spent running around with a bunch of missing posters. Meeting Magnus by his dead body and then go to his funeral. It was weird thinking that the ashes of your dead cousin was buried somewhere when you'd met him several times after that. Percy also knew what happened to her cousin. He looked back at her and their looks told Frank and Hazel that this was true, but not the entire truth. Together the four of them hurried along to catch up with the others.

The clock was closing in on lunchtime and seven of our eight friends was tired of walking around in boring museums. Outside of the Massachusetts State House Leo, Piper and Jason was sitting on the foot of a tall, white monument with a bird on top. Frank and Hazel were happily feeding some birds with breadcrumbs. Nico sat on a bench in the shadow of a tall tree and looked glum. But occasionally he threw out some small pieces of bread from somewhere inside the front pocket of his black skull hoodie to the grey pigeons. At the monument Leo stood impatiently up and exclaimed: "How long can it take them!? They've been in there for ages! And I'm hungry. I want falafel or something". Jason straightened his glasses, "I'm sure they will come soon. Perhaps I should go inside and check on them". He didn't need to. Annabeth and Percy were now walking out of the double doors and down the stairs. Annabeth was talking excitedly about good museums and beautiful architecture. Percy nodded. He was bored of looking a pictures of people who died long before he was born, but happy to see his girlfriend happy. Leo overdramatized a relieved look and said: "Finally! Can we go eat now? I'm starving! What an inglorious death for a demigod like me. To starve to death while sightseeing". Annabeth laughed and pulled out a map over Boston. "I thought we could go to the Boston Common" she said and pointed at a green blob surrounded by grey. Before Leo could protest she added: "There's a food court really close. My plan is that we go there, and perhaps we could bring the food out and eat in the park. Sounds good?". The group of hungry heroes all agreed.

At the food court our friends were looking for something good to eat. "Look, there's a falafel place over there. Didn't you say you wanted falafel Leo?" Piper said. Leo smiled hungrily, "I sure did!". Percy looked at Leo and said: "I could like some falafel too, what about you guys?". He looked at the others who nodded. "Great, I'll pay" he said. The group of eight mad their way to the falafel place called Fadlan's Falafel. Hazel looked at the menu. "It sounds really delicious. We should buy a bunch of different dishes and share. That way everyone gets a taste of everything" she said. Percy nodded and said: "Yeah, go find a table and I'll order". He walked up to the guy at the counter. He looked about the same age as himself, maybe a year or two younger. He had tan skin, thick black hair and startling white teeth. His t-shirt was as white as his teeth and without a single spot of grease or food. He seemed quite chill, but his eyes flicked nervously to Percy's belt where his sword, Riptide, was fastened. Percy didn't notice. He ordered some dishes and added jokingly: "Will we have to wait long? That guy over there is starving" he pointed at Leo. He couldn't possibly have pointed at a worse time. Leo was imitating a monster with an evil grin and hands on fire. This, of course, scared the falafel guy, but Percy just thought he saw a lit match in Leo's hand. The guy smiled at Percy and said: "Eh, yeah. I'll make your food as fast as possible! You won't have to wait long". Percy paid and walked over to the table where the rest of the gang sat.

Amir Fadlan, the falafel guy, nervously picked up the phone while making food for the armed teenagers. He wasn't a stranger to people walking around with weapons, einherjar, or the sound of 20 feet tall stone beings, stone giants, stomping around in Boston anymore. He wasn't going crazy when he saw nisser and draugr. But these people weren't einherjar or nisser or anything like what he'd seen before. These were some scary monsters and he knew exactly who to call.

"H-here's your food. Hope you enjoy it" the falafel guy said as he put the food on the table before he walked away. Percy looked puzzled at the food and said: "This is a lot more than I ordered". He looked after the falafel guy, but he'd disappeared into the little kitchen in the food truck. Leo threw himself over the falafels. "Does it matter? I could eat all of this myself. We're eight, I think we make it" he said with his mouth full. Piper reached for some kibbeh and said: "He seemed really nervous, wonder what that was about". "Maybe he's like Rachel and saw our weapons" Jason said as he opened a bottle of water. Frank scratched his head, "In that case, what should we do? We probably scared him". Annabeth was about to say something, but was shut off by a war cry. All they saw was a flash of green over the food court before suddenly someone held an axe against Percy's throat.
