A Night of Sorrow (KevinXFirebrand) (TT) (Part 2)

     A few weeks pass by and the tension between Firebrand and Kevin slowly faded, they both acted as if everything was okay, they laughed a bit and chit chat every now and then but the guilt was eating Kevin alive, knowing that he hurt his best friend, the very soul he's be around for years. Kevin wanted to make up for it and he swore to his grave that he'd make Firebrand happy once again, the costume party was tomorrow and Kevin was going to ask Firebrand to go, he walked over to Firebrand and looked up at him slightly, "Hey Firebrand, I wanted to ask you something," he said, Firebrand looked at him, "Yes?" He asked curious to see what Kevin had to say, "So I heard that there was a costume party going on tomorrow for Halloween, Milo and a few others were going and I was wondering.." Kevin started to trail off, suddenly getting nervous, "I was wondering if you'd like to go.. with me.." he mumbled, "I'm sorry?" Firebrand asked, not hearing what he said, Kevin looked down and rubbed the back of his neck, "Sorry, I don't know what got over me.." he said and sighed, he took a deep breath "Firebrand, I know that you've been upset lately about what happened between us and what happened back then with Observer.." Kevin began, "I want to make it up to you by taking you out, just as friends, to the Halloween party that's going on tomorrow," Firebrand frowned slightly not really replying, "You don't have to go, but I think it'd be a nice way to take your mind off things," Kevin said, Firebrand shook his head, "I'll.. I'll think about it.." he said and walked away, Kevin frowned, he wanted to cry but held it in, he knew there was no reason to cry. The next day Kevin went out in the afternoon while Firebrand was sleeping so he could get a costume for himself, he got a black rook themed suit for himself and a black crown, he looked at a white king suit and picked it up and walked out to the check out. After he came home he put the white king suit in the closet and went into the bathroom to try on his costume, Firebrand walked pass the bathroom and saw the door was open a crack and he could here Kevin humming Lonely Day to himself, Firebrand opened the door slowly and looked in and saw Kevin all dressed up in his costume, he smiled slightly and sighed for he thought Kevin was pretty cute in that outfit, Kevin turned around and stopped humming when he saw Firebrand watching him, "May I help you?" He asked, Firebrand blushed and stood up straight, "Uh, no! No don't worry about me, I was just walking by!" He said while stumbling over his words, Kevin chuckled and smiled a bit, "How do you like it?" He asked, "It's amazing.." Firebrand mumbled, "What?" Kevin asked, "What? Nothing, I said it looks great!" He said and Kevin walked over to him, "Thanks! I figured you'd like it.." he said, Firebrand chuckled nervously, "Yeah.. Oh well, would you look at the time! It's almost 6! You should get going!" He said, Kevin looked at the time, "Oh yeah, are you not going? I bought you a costume.." he said, Firebrand shook his head, "To much human interaction.." he said, Kevin sighed and nodded, "Well okay, I guess I'll get going then.." he said and walked to front door, grabbing his keys and his phone, "I'll text you when I'm on my way home." He said and walked out the door, Firebrand sighed and walked into the bedroom and saw the closet door open, he opened it and saw that his costume was in there and he looked at the time, "The party is from 6 to 12.." he said to himself, "I'm probably going to regret this." Kevin walked into the party venue where the party was being held, Milo looked at him, "Hey! Kevin! Over here!" He called out, Kevin smiled and walked over, "Hey what's up?" He said and hugged Milo, "I like your costume!" Milo smiled and chuckled, "Thanks, I like yours too! Hey where's Firebrand?" He asked, Kevin shook his head, "He wouldn't come.." he said, Milo sighed, "Well, maybe talk to him tomorrow," he said and Kevin nodded. After a few hours of partying Kevin was sitting down and having a drink, talking with Patrick about some make-up tips and just joking around in general, when then a slow song came on and everyone was grabbing their loved ones and moving to the dance floor, that's when Firebrand walked in through the entrance all dressed up and looking like a king, he looked around looking for Kevin and stepped into the crowd of people. As Kevin watched everyone dance he saw a white crown floating around in the crowd then saw a shadow figure, he gasped slightly when he recognized who that was, "Firebrand?" He called out, Firebrand turned his head and walked over, "There you are," Firebrand said, "Why aren't you dancing?" "Because I have no one to dance with.." Kevin responed and stood up, "Well, um.. Would you like to come dance with me?" Firebrand asked nervously and held out his hand, Kevin blushed and nodded, he took his hand and they walked out to the dance floor. As they dance it felt like it was only them there, just an amazing night dancing and swaying to the slow music, just a rook and his king, eventually the music stopped and they both bowed to each other, Kevin smiled at Firebrand lovingly and Firebrand blushed, "Why did you come?" Kevin asked, "You know you didn't have too," "Well, I wanted to make sure you were safe," Firebrand said, Kevin hugged onto Firebrand and sighed, "Firebrand.. I want to talk to you about something.. Can we go outside?" He asked and Firebrand nodded. They both walked outside and sat on a bench near by, looking up at the Moon, "Firebrand, I'm sorry for everything.." Kevin started, "I want to be able to make up for what happened," he said, Firebrand looked down and sighed, "Kevin.. I really care about you.." he said, "I know that you meant good intentions but it hurt me, I thought you didn't want me around.." Kevin shook his head, "No Firebrand, that's not true at all, I do want you around.. You're my best friends we've been through everything together!" He said, Firebrand stared at the Moon and Kevin held his hand, Firebrand didn't say anything and then pulled him closer, Kevin blushed and hugged onto him, "I have no idea what is going on right now.." Firebrand said and Kevin raised his eyebrow, "What do you mean?" He asked, "Kevin I have so many emotions right now.. I want to be friends with you but.. Something is telling me to love you.. and it's making me insane.. because I don't think you want to be with me that way or in anyway at all.." Firebrand said, Kevin looked at him and Firebrand turned his head to him and they locked eyes. In that moment it felt like forever before either of them spoke, "Firebrand.. I love you a lot, I feel the same way you do.. But I understand if you just want to be friends.. I'm willing to replace what Observer broke!" He said, Firebrand gripped onto Kevin's hand, "You would?" He asked and Kevin nodded, "I.. I don't know.. What should I feel?!" He started to freak out, "I normally don't ever feel these things? But when I'm around you I do!" Kevin frowned then signed, he grabbed Firebrands face and just kissed him deeply, Firebrand was shocked but then slowly melted into the kiss, they pulled away, "Is that better?" Kevin asked and Firebrand nodded, "Okay.. I love you Firebrand.." Kevin said and laid his head on his shoulder, Firebrand blushed and took a deep breath, "I love you too Kevin."
