Birthday Night

(Just an Authors Note: Kira is Trans!Kevin, it's an AU so please don't freak out, if you don't like it don't read it)

     It was September 16th and Milo was in his room petting his cat Oscar while looking out the window, he sighed as he stared up at the sky watching the sun set, he looked over at his journal and decided to recap his day like he always does, he gently picked up his cat and put him on the bed as he walked over to his journal and grabbed it, he sat down at his desk and grabbed a pencil as he opened his book and flipped to a blank page, he began writing about his day and how he had a bit of fun with his stepdad John and that his mom Mary didn't bother him to much today. A little while later after finishing his entry he laid his head down on the desk, he sighed and closed his eyes to rest but just as he was about to drift to sleep he heard a knock at his window, Milo lifted his head and raised an eyebrow, he stood up from his desk and looked over at Oscar who was still sleeping on the bed as Milo walked over to the window and saw a pair of white glowing glasses, he jumped and fell over onto the floor and covered his mouth frozen in fear, there was a soft muffled giggle from outside and the figure grabbed their phone and turned on the flashlight and pointed at itself, reviling that it was Kira sitting on a tree branch, Milo furrowed his eyebrows as he stood up and opened the window, "Kira?" he asked in a hushed whisper, Kira nodded and smiled softly, "Sorry for the scare Milo, I didn't know how else to get to you," she said and Milo shook his head as he sighed with relief, "It's okay I suppose, but what are you doing here? And how the hell did you get up here?" Milo asked, "Well, first off, I climbed the tree so I could get up here and two, it's your birthday! I wanted to come by and ask if you wanted to sneak out with me," she said with a smile and Milo tilted his head, "You, want me to sneak out with you?" Milo asked, "What happened to the well behaved Kira at school?" Kira giggled softly, "I'm making an acceptation for you," she said and held out her hand for Milo to grab, Milo bit his lip a bit while thinking about the pros and cons of what could happen, he sighed and gave into the temptation, "Alright, alright fine, we'll sneak out," he said and grabbed Kira's hand. After Milo put his shoes on and made sure that both Mary and John were sleeping, he climbed out the window and shut it slightly but left it open just enough so he can sneak back in later, Kira then climbed down the tree and helped Milo down as well, "So where are we heading first?" Milo asked, "Well I was gonna take you out to get some food, whatever you'd like, I finished a big photo project and I got paid quite handsomely," Kira said and Milo thought for a moment, "Well there's this diner near by that I've been wanting to visit," he said and looked at Kira, Kira nodded and grabbed his hand, "Lets get going then, we don't got all night," she said and started dragging him away from the house. As Kira and Milo were walking to their destination they began talking about each others days, Kira was explaining about how her last client wanted a huge photo shoot for a school project and how she had a blast with everyone during the shoot, Milo smiled softly to himself as he listened to Kira explained everything, Kira then looked at the dreamy expression he had on his face and blushed a bit, "Milo, you still listing?" she asked and Milo blushed from embarrassment, "Y-Yeah sorry, I was just kinda spacing out a bit," he said and looked away, Kira giggled and hugged onto his arm as they walked. Once they got to their destination they walked inside and found a spot to sit, which was a small little booth in a corner, "Wow this place looks pretty cool," Kira said as she looked around the diner, Milo nodded, "Yeah, I passed it some time last week when I was out with John," he said. Eventually a waiter came over and they ordered some food, after the waiter left Milo looked out the window and sighed softly to himself, Kira titled her head and placed her hand on the table, "Hey, is everything okay?" she asked and Milo looked at her and nodded slightly, "I'm fine, just, a little worried," he said, "Ah, I understand," Kira said and then smiled lovingly at him, "Don't worry to much, okay? I'll get you home before the sun comes up," she says, "Okay," Milo said and looked at Kira's hand on the table, he then placed his hand on the table and looked back out the window, Kira reached for his hand and softly took it into her hand, Milo blushed and smiled softly to himself as he held her hand as well. After awhile they got their food and ate, they talked and told jokes in between, after they ate Kira paid for the food and they left the diner Kira then took them to a gas station to get some ice cream as a birthday snack, "Jeez, Kira, you're going all out tonight huh?" Milo asked and chuckled, Kira nodded and handed him his ice cream cone, "Yeah, I wanted tonight to be a good one, we barely hangout anymore so I wanted to do something fun," Kira said and opened her ice cream cone, Milo smiled and did the same, Kira then grabbed Milo's arm with her free hand and started leading him away from the gas station, "Where are we going now?" Milo asked, "I'mma take you to my chilling spot, you'll love it," she said. Kira then led Milo to an ally way behind a small store and to an abandoned house, "What is this place?" Milo asked with uncertainty, Kira stopped for a second and looked at Milo, she finished her last bite of Ice cream and smiled softly at Milo, "Milo, you trust me right?" she asked and Milo worriedly furrowed his eyebrows, "I, yeah I do," he hesitated, Kira softly grabbed both of his hands after he finished his ice cream, "Then close your eyes okay? I promise you'll be safe," she said and Milo bit his lip, "Are you sure?" he asked, "Milo, I'd never hurt you," Kira said with certainty, Milo sighed and closed his eyes tight, "Okay, I suppose," he said and Kira softly led Milo down a set of stairs into a dark basement, "Can I open them now?" Milo asked in a whisper, "No not yet," Kira said and took him into a room in the back of the basement and down some more stairs which led into a corridor with doors lining the walls, she pulled him to the very end of the corridor and opened the door, "Okay, Milo, take two steps foreword," she said and Milo carefully took two steps, "Alright you can open your eyes," she said after she closed the door behind her, Milo opened his eyes but it was still dark, "Uh, Kira, I can't see anything," he said as he looked around, "I know, stay right there," she said as she rushed over to a box on the wall, she opened it and flipped some switches and a soft hum filled the room and the ceiling started to split open, moon light then flooded the room and some vintage bulbs hanging from the ceiling turned on, giving a soft warm orange glow to the room. Once the room was lit up it reviled the room was filled with plants of all kind, "Whoa!" Milo said with surprise, Kira smiled and skipped over to him, "It's really pretty isn't it?" she asked, "The mixture of lights give a nice comforting feeling, and the whole room is filled with nature, like it wasn't even touched by human kind," Milo looked at the pond under the hole in the roof, "How did you find this?" he asked, "I was looking for a good place to shoot some photos at one point and I found this," Kira explained, "It's a great place to escape the real world for a bit," she said as she walked over to the edge of the pond and sat down next to it, she then patted the ground next to her inviting Milo to come join her, Milo smiled softly to himself and sat next to her, Kira then laid her head on his shoulder and sighed softly, Milo blushed a tad and looked at her, "This place always helps me calm my nerves," Kira said and Milo nodded, "It certainty does help," he said. After a little bit of silence Milo softly wrapped his arm around Kira's shoulders and she smiled softly to herself, Kira then cuddled up to him as he pulled her closer, "Hey, Kira," he said softly and Kira looked up at him, "Yeah?" she asked softly, "I'm glad you're my friend," Milo said and Kira smiled at him, "I'm glad you're my friend too, Milo," she said, Milo then looked at the pond and sighed softly, "This was the best time I've had in awhile," he said, Kira sat up and softly grabbed his face and made him look at her, "Milo," she said with a loving tone as she put one hand on his cheek and one hand on his hand, "I'm glad that I can provide an escape," she said, Milo blushed and rested his face into her hand, he then wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a hug, Kira giggled and hugged back tightly, Milo buried his face into her shoulder and began to tear up, Kira rubbed his back as he began to softly sob into her shoulder. After a minute of muffled sobs, Milo moved away from Kira and wiped away his tears, Kira smiled at him softly and reached into her pocket pulling out a small pack of tissues and gave it to him, "Thanks," he said and blew his nose, "You're welcome, Milo," Kira said, "I'll always be here for you okay? I promise," she said as she stood up, she held out her hand and Milo took it, she helped him stand up and hugged him again, Milo hugged back tightly and sighed with relief, "Thank you so much," Milo said, "We should probably get going," Kira said and Milo nodded, "Okay, lets go," he said. After Kira closed the place up and turned off the lights, they both headed back up to the upper levels of the building and Kira led Milo back to his house. Once they got there Milo grabbed onto the branch and looked back at Kira, "Thanks again for the fun time tonight," he said and Kira nodded and smiled, "You're very welcome," she said, Milo then looked down and sighed softly, "Also sorry about, crying on you," he said, Kira giggled as she walked over to him, she softly grabbed his face and kissed his nose, "Don't worry about it, you poor thing," she said, Milo blushed and quickly looked away, "W-What was that for?" he asked nervously, "It's a birthday kiss," Kira said with a smile, "As well as a goodnight kiss," Milo shook his head and began climbing the tree back up to his window, Kira stood at the bottom of the tree and watched as he climbed back into his room, she sighed and went to walk away, but before she got to the side walk a paper air plane flew past her and landed at her feet, she picked it up and opened it up and read it, "Thanks for the kiss, see ya later," she read aloud to herself, Kira then smiled and looked back up to the window and saw Milo wave at her and quickly close the window and the curtains, Kira giggled and folded the paper up into her pocket, "Sleep well, Milo," she mumbled and headed home.
