Claps and cheers went on for Lucy as the hall way was all in silence. The principal announced Lucy's name thrice. The whole ball room went silent waiting for Lucy to come on stage. The silence broke as they heard a loud scream coming from the hall way. Everybody gasped in fear. The principal rushed towards the hall way as all the students followed him.

Principal Frank was shocked when he saw a girl lying in a pool of blood with a baseball bat next to her.

"Stay back students!", He commanded.

He went closer, just to see, Lucy lying with her head bleeding continuously, her eyes with wide open and her white gown covered in red.

He gasped in terror and fear. All the students ran towards him to see what made him gasp. Some faces were shocked, some were scared but only one was crying loudly, Emily. She came running towards Lucy and started crying uncontrollably.

Emily: Lucy wake up please... She wiped her tears and kept on saying, we still have to do a lot of things, I have lot to say please wake up!
She couldn't stop her tears. Jared held her in his arms and tried to comfort her, but nothing could ease the pain she felt. Seeing her best friend lying in blood and she couldn't help her in anyway.

After some time, Lucy's body was taken in custody and the investigation began. All the students, staffs and teachers were interrogated as well as the principal. It was a horrific nightmare for Eastwood Lake High.
Some students said they were in the ball room while the incident took place and some were in the bathrooms or in the playground.

Mandi and her group were also investigated and they all made the same excuse like all except for Gertrude. She was called from her house as she left the school early due to being unwell. She said she was having cramps in her stomach so she had to leave. The body went for postmortem and the cause of dead was because of being hit by a heavy object which was of course the base ball bat but also some traces of drugs had been found in her blood. But they were proven to be very old.So it wasn't disclosed to others and was kept personal by the forensic doctors.
The baseball team was questioned but the bat didn't belong to Eastwood Lake High. Apparently it was by mistakenly exchanged in the
Inter- school Championship.

The investigation went on for six months. But there was still no clue. No eye witnesses, no camera footage, nothing but confession could bring justice to Lucy. But Mandi didn't seem to take the blame.

Emily was now in senior year. Her life had been very rough since the past six months but luckily she had Jared. She grew attachment with him as he called her everyday to check on her, gave her flowers every single day and also became her first kiss. Her life was getting a little stable but she wanted justice for Lucy. She wanted to know what happened to her best friend. She decided to do her own little investigation. She took Jared's help.

After the school was over, they broke in at 5pm. The lights were shut and the grey lockers weren't visible of course so she took out a torch and went to the lockers. Lucy's locker was not removed. They kept it as a shrine.
Emily checked Lucy's locker and found nothing but their pictures. All those portraits bought nostalgia and made her shed tears. Emily took those pictures and put them in her locker.
As she was about to close the locker, she saw some traces of blood of the hinges of the door.

Emily: Jared look! Blood stains, they have to be Lucy's.

Jared: Are you sure?

Emily: I think so i am.

Emily sat down and did more thorough check, she slid her hand below the locker as the opening was very small. She didn't find anything much except for a few hair strand. She pulled them out of the opening.

Jared: What did you find there?

Emily: Hair strands. Looks like they were a part of some hair extensions.

Jared: So is this like a clue?

Emily: I dont know.

Emily sighed and gave Jared the hair strands. They were blonde and might be of Lucy's but Emily knew that Lucy won't wear extensions because she hated fake hair.

Jared sniffed the hair and said," Oh wow smells like dead vanilla!

Emily paused for a second.

Emily: What did you just say?! She questioned Jared in a serious tone.

Jared: Smells like dead vanilla?

Emily: Oh my God i don't believe this.

Jared: What is it? Tell me!

Emily : These are Mandi's!!! I remember the smell when she sat next to me.

Jared: Are you sure?

Emily: Yes i am! Maybe that's the reason she is being nice to me. That's why she accepted me when we started dating. She didn't cringe or make any comments on me.

Jared: This can't be true! I am shook!
Lets confront her right now!

Emily: No Jared! We need more proof! If we do that then she will not trust you ever. It will ruin your friendship with them.

Jared: I dont want to be their friend anyways! They are all liars.

Emily: Dont say that Jared.

Jared: No please! You don't know what they do!

Emily: They do what?!

Jared: Oh God, he took a long pause, took a deep breathe and said, They steal chemicals from the lab and sell it to some guy who does drug tests with those and they get paid for it. They told me once to join them but i said no. All those drug tests happens on students like us. I have seen them talking to that guy.

Emily: Do you know where we can find him?!

Jared: Yeah i went with Alex once but we can't go there at night. Its somewhere near the woods. You might not know what would strike us.

Emily: Yeah you're right. I can't believe they did something like this. Do they still do this?

Jared: They haven't. Its been a while now.

Emily was all sunk in thoughts. She didnt knew what to say or what to do?
They both returned to their homes and decided to see that drug dealer tomorrow.
