Lets see what happens...

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Vernias POV.

I woke up to find Nick holding me close to him.

I must've fallen asleep in his bed.

I felt safe in his arms.

Like he was protecting me.

I looked up at his face, so peaceful. He was in a deep sleep.

I wriggled out of his arms and sat on the bed.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket.

15 messages and 7 missed calls, all from John except one text from my mum.

MY PARENTS! They don't know where I am!

I quickly called my mums mobile, not reading any messages.

It went straight to voicemail, her phone must be off.

"Hey mum" I began.

"Sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I slept at my friends house last night. I will let you know if I stay another night. Thanks." I hung up.

My mum was always so protective about sleepovers and going out to 'hang' with my friends.

I heard Nick mumble something so I turned around to look at him.

He looked comfortable where he was.

*is it weird that I'm casually looking at my ex-boyfriends best friend while he sleeps?* yes, that's right. Ex-boyfriend.

I had made the conclusion that John and I were together for a while but broke up yesterday afternoon.

So much for making a move...

I got up and crept downstairs to the kitchen.

A middle-aged woman was standing there, making pancakes.

She put the last pancake on a plate, then turned around and looked at me.

"You must be Nicks friend." She said in her loving, gentle-like voice.

I nodded.

"I'm Vernia..." I mumbled.

"Well, I'm Nicks mother. Pleased to meet you!" She smiled.

I put my hand out to her, to shake her hand but she gave me a big, warm bear-hug instead.

"Mum! What did I say about hugging my friends?" I heard Nick shout from the doorway.

"I just wanted to be friendly!" She responded, flashing me a warm smile.

"Are you alright?" Nick asked walking over to me.

I nodded.

He put his arms around my waist.

"You sure?" He looked at me, concerned.

I looked at his hands and pulled them off me.

"Yea... I'm... Fine." I stuttered.

"Well," Nick's mother began.
