chapter 1

His eyes. His crystal, blue, green eyes. The sort of eyes that you want to look at all day and night, with the hope that your eyes and his will one day, meet.

His smile. His lovely, little smile. The sort of smile you would love him to flash at you as you walk through the corridors of the school.

His hair. His free, flowing hair. The sort of hair that he flicks in the most perfect way, that makes you weak at the knees.

He seems like the perfect guy. His eyes, his smile, his hair... everything, apart from the fact that he's hers, not mine.

John Smith, the captain of the rugby team belonged to Anna Heart, queen of the populars. They were the school love birds. He didn't deserve a girl like her though, a girl who is just eager for attention. He really needs a girl who will cherish every moment with him and would do anything, and everything together, someone like me.

Where do I fit in? I'm the school nerd, but not at all smart. More like a geek really. I'm into planets, stars and parallel universe's, shes into boys, gossip and more boys.

But, I had no chance with John. He still doesn't know I exist! If only he would notice me...

"woah! snap outta it, Vernia!" my best friend, Chloe yelled. "your not looking at Mr perfect again are you?"

It was Lunch time and we were sitting on a bench across from the populars and the rugby team.

I realised I was staring right at John again. "of course I'm not looking at John." i began " i was... er... um...well..." "come on Vernia! It's the fifth time today! Just admit it, your in love with John Smith, captain of the Rugby team." She shouted enthusiastically.

"Hey. I thought we made a deal? You would never talk about that, out loud. If you could have the rest of my M'NMs." I whispered. "C'mon V, that was ages ago!" Chloe remembered. For once she was right. It was a while ago. "But it was still a promise." i said. "You've had a  crush on him since kindergarten! Why don't you make a move?" she answered.

"I would... If he wasnt going out with that witch... I mean, Anna" I sighed.

As she was about to answer the bell rang for 5th period. "Oh, i gotta go," i said while stuffing half of my sandwich in my mouth while running off. "you know how teachers can be."

"yeah, see you in Math!" screamed Chloe, running the other way.

I ran into the school and down the full, corridors hoping not to bump into anybody. Then, as I ran around a corner i bump into a person, causing both of us to fall onto the floor.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" i said without looking up. My books were scattered all over the floor. I saw the persons hands, picking up my books, and so did I.

When we had picked up all the books i heard a friendly voice coming from the person. "Here's your books. Sorry for what happened. We shouldn't be running around corners!"

The voice, was a guys voice, and sounded very familiar.

I looked up, to see the face of the friendly person.

It was, a slightly confused, John.
