Chapter 20: The beginning to the end

Have you ever had that one moment that changed your life forever?

I had that moment when I met JC.

He would... he did change my life forever.

But this moment will seal my fate.

Oh God JC...  was all I could think as Lily and I ran into my nightmare.

Connor wasn't lying when he said there were pictures of... me everywhere. I didn't think the bitch was that evil.

I guess my first judgments of people are usually wrong.

"Where's Katlyns 1st period?" Lily ask as we turn a corner.

Im not paying attention to where I am going, my mind is racing faster than my legs can carry.

"I-I don't know" What did he do? Oh JC...

We hear more yelling and screaming ahead and we run straight to it.

We arrive at the scene at the empty football field.

Katlyn is lying on the ground limp with blood around he head

Sam is leaning over her crying shaking her now life-less face. Connor is pacing back and forth in the back, delarious.

" Holy Shit" Lily hoarsley says staring at the body covering her mouth,

My stomach turns over. This must not be real. This isnt happening....

"Victoria..." The arms I know so well wrap around me, but this time don't bring me warmth.

"JC. What did you do" I stand frozen, not taking my eyes off the body.

"He fucken punched her so hard in her face her-r head cracked on the pavement. Oh God we got to call 911" Sam makes out hysterically.

"NO we have too, we have too... Im so sorry Victoria." The tears roll down JC's face breaking my heart.

"No need for an ambulance. She;s dead" Connor states taking her pulse.

Lily pukes.

"What's going on out here? Get too class!" A pudgy man says walking towards us.

"Run!" Connor yells at JC.  And that's exactly what he does next

This must be a nightmare... what happening...

The next moment we were running. I had no idea where, for he was pulling me, grabbing my hand tightly. But I couldn't feel the pain. They're are more things rushing through my head. I tried processing what is happening; we're on a cloudy beach around noon, JC is muttering under his breath cussing and  looking back at me every 5 seconds with a troubled face, and I am in daze. What is happening?

Interrupting my thoughts, my face hits the sand causing JC to fall also beside me. 

He turned his head to me and gave me a small smile that no one sees often."You're such a clutz" he muttered.

Before I could ask what the hell is going on, police sirens fill the empty air changing his face expression.

"I promised that I would protect you " He choked out as tears poured. Is he actually... crying? What is happening? He killed a girl. He's a murderer.

" Im so sorry.. I couldn't control myself...  what she did too you" He sobbed. I gabbed his hand and looked into his beautiful glassy brown eyes.

The police started shouting something, but we just laid there staring at each other crying.

" JC why did you have to that! Why! " I cried out angriliy.

" Victoria, you're the only light I know" He continue sobbing. "I-I-I my anger took over me. It's all I could think about and when I saw that sluts face... I didn't want anyone to hurt you. Promise me you'll remeber me.

"I promise." I said back confused, remeber what?  He wiped a tear under my eye away. And at the moment I realized; JC Caylen was a beautiful mistake.

But God, this was the best mistake I would have ever made.

We lay in the cool sand for the next few seconds that seem like hours, looking at each other.

"I love you Victoria. Forever..." He says pressing his lips against mine, flooding me with memories.  Please don't ever let go.

Footsteps come towards us. No. I squeeze my eyes shut. My heart tears apart."

"Mr.Caylen, please stand up and put your hands behind your back" I look up seeing a police officer aiming a gun towards JC.

"No don't hurt him! He's all I have" I stand up in front of JC.

Another officer pulls me beside. " We'd also like to ask you a few question." The officer almost sounded sad.  I am too, the person I love just murdered a girl my age. 

"JC please listen to him" I beg. JC looks up at me with broken eyes. But he listens. Thank you lord.

"  JC I love you... I love you JC"  He was my heart

The officers look unsure what to do, they just hold us apart and whisper each other.

Crowds of people form on the beach all whispering and staring. I spot Lily and Connor.

I wonder how my life would've played out if I was with Connor instead...

Still nothing would compare what I felt for JC.

" We are going to go down to the station and call your gurdians" The officer that was holding me tells me. My dad would have never guessed. He doesn't even know what he missed.

JC pulls away from the officer and grabs and lifts me up. I wrap my legs around as if it was instinct and press my lips one last time against him letting the electicity and the passion take over our minds. This can not be our last kiss.

Our hearts beat as one.

As quickly as it started, it ends with the officers grabbing JC forcefully and throwing him in the car like he was nothing. He was everything to me.

"C'mon'  the officer says opening the back door of his car for me.

But I stand there in a daze watching the person who gave me something no one has ever given me since my mother.

He gave me something I wanted, what I crave, what I needed.

Love.

| And thats the ending!
