"Gran?" Soonyoung said when his grandmother finally picked up his call.
"Yes, darling? Do you need something?" She asked, her voice sounded as soft and gentle as it always was.
"Nothing, Gran. It's just. . . I want to buy something for Jihoon," Soonyoung whispered, not wanting Jihoon to hear it.
"Oh, really? What is it? I can pay half of it. Besides, I want to thank Jihoon for taking a good care of you," she said.
Soonyoung smiled. "That would be nice, Gran. And I brought him to an instrument shop earlier, before going home. There's this guitar that he really loved."
"And you wanted to buy that guitar for him?"
"Yes. If you only saw the look in his eyes upon seeing the guitar, Gran, he looked so. . . happy," Soonyoung said and his grandmother could clearly hear the fondness in his voice.
"Son, do you like him?" His grandmother asked, sounding serious yet delicate.
Soonyoung smiled, the warmest and the most genuine smile he could have ever worn. "I'm so in love with him, Gran," he confessed.
She giggled on the other line. "Then go get him. Pursue him. Soon, I promise, I would feel so relieved if you end up being with him."
Soonyoung's smile faded, then he sighed. "It's not that simple, Gran. He's in love with his ex. And I don't want to rush on him. He has to heal, and it would take him quite some time. And I'm willing to wait. . . it's just that I don't know if I can make him as happy as his ex made him."
He heard his grandmother sigh on the other line too. "Maybe you really can't make him as happy as the past made him. . . But what if you can make him happier?"
Soonyoung shrugged. "I don't know, but I'm trying. That's why I'm doing all of these for him."
"Okay. The next time, ask help like today, understand, sweetie? I'm helping you in this because I want you to win his heart and make him happy."
Soonyoung smiled sadly. "But what if I can't win him?"
"What if you can?"
———
Soonyoung was beyond amazed when suddenly, his grandmother told him that they already deposited the money in his account. He told her that he would not ask any financial help from them because he's sure they need it too, and they end up arguing about it. She argued that it's okay because he want to do something for Jihoon too, and in the end, they agreed that Soonyoung will pay her once he wins the dance competition again.
It was break time, and Jihoon excused himself again. Soonyoung let him go anyways, knowing that he can't stop Jihoon anymore and knowing that Jihoon won't tell him where he's going.
And again, he saw Wonwoo coming back from outside, his face seems to show a better look than yesterday. Wonwoo wasn't entirely happy, but at least he looked calmer.
"You looked better today. Something good happened?" Soonyoung asked as Wonwoo takes his seat which was beside Soonyoung.
Wonwoo looked at him. "I'm not mad. That's what happened."
"Why are you not mad? Mingyu did something good today, didn't he?"
Wonwoo sighed. "He told me he's going back home to Anyang next month just to check on his family, and he wanted to take me with him so he'll introduce me to his parents."
