Chapter 3

The doctor completely amazed yet confused by Elisa’s seemingly miraculous recovery, kept her in for one more night under observation. Her mother arrived quickly after learning that her daughter was going to be fine and brought clean clothes and a very happy Jordan along with her. Elisa smiled at her sister- the little girl was in her pj’s and looked so innocent. This brought tears to her eyes and she wondered if Jordan would ever find out the truth. Her mom left and Elisa was alone again.

She spent a few hours reading her favourite book- Romeo and Juliet. A book so simple, without witches, vampires and werewolves. It was a love story that showed that love really can conquer all. The lovers ended up dying in each other’s arms, but it made the two families closer and ended the feud that had been part of their lives for years.

Elisa had almost finished the book when she heard the door of the hospital room creaking open. She looked up and came face to face with Shane. He was dressed like Michael had been the day they met. The only difference was the hair, black as coal and as dark as the night. He would look dangerous to anyone else, but Elisa could see the fear and sadness in his eyes and felt his pain. Shane continued to move slowly forward and eventually came close enough to sit down on the edge of Elisa’s bed. He spoke then.

“Elisa, thank you, thank you so much. Every day I heard my brother crying and hoping I would wake up, and today his wish finally came true because of you. I’m glad the first face I saw when I woke up was one as beautiful as yours.”

Elisa just looked at him for a while. He was truly stunning and spoke in a beautiful way. She felt herself falling just a tiny bit in love with him at that moment, and electricity raced through her as he touched her hand, a gesture that completely confused her. She couldn’t though, could she? Fall in love with him, with Shane. She had lost Jacob, the boy she thought she had loved and how slowly started to feel love towards Michael. Now Shane had come into her life and already she felt guilt.

“It’s fine, I just wanted to help Michael, help him get his life back.” She whispered, ignoring the comment about her being beautiful. Then they stared at each other some more and the more she stared into his beautiful, blue eyes, the more she wanted to kiss him.

As if reading her mind, Shane slowly leaned forward and their lips met for the first time. It was like fireworks we’re exploding in her mind, the kiss was so right, but so wrong. This was a boy she had just cured and woken from his coma, this was a boy she had only just met and above all, this was the boy whose brother had made her love for the first time since Jacob’s death.

Elisa pulled away. “I’m sorry, I did this for Michael, I feel bad, I can’t kiss you, not now.”

Shane just looked hurt, and very confused. He rose from the bed and went to leave. Half way through the door, he turned and spoke again. “Just so you know, I’ll be leaving the hospital tomorrow and starting my senior year at Jameson High on Monday, see you then, Beautiful.” Then he smiled and closed the door behind him.

Sorry it’s short; I want a few more reads before I write again and at least 3 comments,so please comment! Please! :)
