The days seemed to be getting harder as they went on. Josh felt like there was nothing to live for without his boyfriend by his side. Tyler was his everything. Tyler was the reason he made it through the day. Even if he had a bad day, he knew that in the end, he could go home to the brunette. If Tyler was overseas, he still had something to look forward to: Tyler coming home.

But now...that was all gone. He knew he could never come home to a surprise of seeing the tall brunette dancing to music while making dinner ever again. He had nothing to look forward to after six months of being alone, because there was nobody waiting to come home to him anymore.

Josh felt empty. He didn't know how to move passed it. Any motivation his body once held was drained from his body.

Staring at the wall on other side of the room, Josh pictures his boyfriend lying upside down on the sofa, his head dangling off the edge, his bare feet crossed at the ankles and pressed against the drywall, being careful not to knock down the framed pictures.

"Josh, change it! You know I don't like horror movies!" Tyler laughs.

"But you hunt? How many deer have you killed this year already?" Josh grins with a laugh. "That's just as scary as a ghost!"

Josh never questioned it.

"It's not the same! Don't throw popcorn at me!" Tyler squeals as he attempts to catch the buttery snack in his mouth.

Josh's favorite things about Tyler was that even though he could shoot a target hundreds of feet away from him, and he fought in battles, he wasn't afraid to be himself while he was with Josh. He loved being goofy. Tyler giggled as if he were a little boy receiving a present, he loved being tickled, he loved licking the spoon after making brownies, and "accidentally" getting some of the mix on Josh's nose. He even loved being the little spoon when the two boys cuddled. He loved being with Josh. He loved Josh.

Josh glances at the box on the coffee table, the memory of the brunette leaving his mind.

Opening the box, he reads the envelope on top: open when...you need a hug

Carefully ripping the envelope open, Josh pulls the sheet of paper out.

Hi, Joshie!

If you want to, and if I'm not there to do it for you, prepare a bath for yourself, maybe light some of your favorite vanilla candles, pour a glass of wine. Snuggle under a blanket or grab one of my hoodies and lie down with a movie on. Whatever you need to do that will help you relax. Your heating blanket is in the hallway closet in case you're feeling anxious, too. I'm sorry that I can't be there to give you a hug, honey. I love your hugs. I'm hoping that the warmth will make it seem like I'm there. I'm always there for you, babe. Maybe not physically, but I promise, I'll always be there. No matter what happens. All you gotta do is speak, and I'm there to listen.
Love, Tyler xx
