Josh sat quietly next to the Joseph family. It had been raining nearly all day, the dark gray clouds seeming to only gather around the location of where everyone sat. No other perfect weather for the event taking place.

The officiant spoke calmly, and as much as Josh wanted to pay attention, he couldn't. All he could focus on was the American flag lying on top of the closed casket, Tyler's picture of himself in his service uniform held on a black, metal easel adjacent to it. Josh held the all too familiar Vitaminwater bottle in his hand as he stares at his boyfriend's picture, Tyler's serious facial expression staring back at him.

It actually wasn't very often that Josh had seen his boyfriend look that serious. He knew the goofy side of the young brunette. He knew the bright, wide eyes, the loud laughs that ended only in clapping, because no sound came out anymore. Of course Tyler knew when to be serious. As a U.S. soldier, he really had no choice. Josh just brought the best out of him, and Josh was proud that he could help Tyler be comfortable to the point of never having to stop smiling.

"Josh, honey. It's time to leave."

Josh nodded, not taking his eyes off of the photo. "Yeah. Um, can I meet you guys at the car? I just want to stay here for a moment."

Kelly nods before pressing a kiss to Josh's cold, wet forehead, "Of course, sweetie. Take as long as you'd like."

Josh watched silently as Kelly walked away, hugging her second oldest son, and Tyler's first brother, Zack.

For a moment, Josh wondered how Kelly was holding together so well. If she cried during the service, Josh hadn't seen. Although, now that Josh thinks about it, Tyler was her son. A mother's worst nightmare is to lose one of her children. And it had happened to Kelly Joseph. She probably didn't have any tears left.

With a shaky sigh, Josh looks back toward the closed casket, the red, white, and blue flag being protected from a tent they had over the burial spot. Spotting the grave digger's a few rows away, patiently waiting to do their job, Josh walks underneath the tent, the rain instantly being shielded away.

Taping the pre-written note to the lid of the bottle, he carefully sets the bottle on top of the casket before walking away without another word.

If possible, please give this to him. Let him know it's from Josh

Josh watches from a distance as one of the grave diggers reads the note and carefully lifts the casket top and sets the bottle inside.
