He was back here again. Here of all places.

He wasn't sure when he even got here, how long he'd been staring into the distance through their old window. Or how long he had been lost in thought.

But all he did know, was that he was... hurt.

So incredibly hurt.

Michael's eyes were hollow, and distance, and cold, as he stared out the window. The window that gave the best view of the ocean, the moon peered beautiful over the flowy and beautiful blue waves that were crashing against a nearby shore. This window in his old house. It was close to a nearby bed.

The bed that Lilac shared with him...

Michael, just at the mere thought of her name, felt an eternal sadness grow stronger within' him. His heart was heavy, his eyes and thoughts clouded with grief.

He looked so lost as he stared out into the endless ocean, not daring to rest his hands on the wooden fence railing for the sake of old memories.

Gosh, the memories.

The memories of Lilac, his beautiful and strong wife, and himself meeting for the first time. It was a wreck, but it was the start of something so beautiful.

Michael's fingers began to curl into a tight ball at his sides. To stop it he placed them on his head, hoping to stop the subconscious act. Only for his fingers to latch onto his hair, like a blood-sucking leach.

The memories of Lilac laughing at a stupid joke he made to lighten the awkward mood.

Michael's eyes glossed over and his head tilted ever so slightly down.

The memories of Lilac and himself going out on their first date.

Michael's body grew tenser than it ever had been before, his hands so tight he was beginning to pull out some of his hair.

The memories, of him purposing.

Michael's shoulders began to tremble.

The memories, of their first fight. They couldn't stay mad at each other for such trivial things though. They loved each other so much, and fights rarely ever happened. He remembers buying Lilac her favorite flowers as a token of peace.

And then...

Michael heard the news she was pregnant.

The shadow godslayer suddenly dropped to the ground, body going limp. He suddenly didn't have the energy to stand anymore, his heart thumping loudly in his ears. But it was nothing in volume compared to how loud his thoughts currently were.

He couldn't even see, everything around him felt fuzzy. Yet everything in his mind was so clear.

He was so happy, and so was Lilac. They were having a baby girl.

Michael felt the tears on the brink of his eyes build up further, until─

...Her name was Sabrina.

And there they were.

Hot crocodile tears poured down from Michael's face at a rapid pace, his body pathetically crumpled ball on the old wooden flooring. His sobs were silent at first, the unforgettable memories of Sabrina, his daughter, and Lilac, his wife, flashing through his mind.

Ultimately, Michael's thoughts grew impossibly louder. The world seemed to deafen, like a mute button, on his ears.

But what pierced through it was a shrill and agonizing scream. It was full of pain, and anguish, it sounded to yearning. Like it wanted something. You could hear the guilt. The rage. The sadness. The loss. The pain.

The worst part of it all?

It was Michael's scream.

The thoughts became too much for him, and now he was spiraling out of control.

His powers began acted up without a moments notice, shadows casting all around him and growing suffocating to anyone around. The purple tentacles markings wasted no time appearing on his tainted skin, the hypotonic gleam shined in his eyes as his fingernails dug painfully into his scalp, no doubt drawing blood. Colt sweat was now formed on his face, beading down like rubber bullets.

It wasn't long before the scream, came to a sudden stop. Michael's movements swiftly copying just that. And just like that. His body just, gave out.

Michael laid there, for who knows how long, with far too wide eyes. His chest racking with heavy pants as the hot tears still poured down his sorrowful face.

Now, there was only silence for the world around him.

But in Michael's mind, there were only memories.

Unforgettable memories.
