A/N:
Idea given by JayDarke ! Thank you for the idea!! :DEverything was rather chill in Grimshade for once.
Bren and Colin were having a hushed conversation, talking about training sessions regarding control and tranquility over some tea. While Seeka and Pat were having their own talk by the bar, a chess game in front of them. They had placed a bet, and even though the pressure was on, they were still casually chatting back and forth. Mitch was quietly observing from his spot near the bar, seeming content at the chill atmosphere. Lily was out and getting some things to restock the bar, so she was gone for a bit. Everything was calm, and relaxed...
And then Michael appeared, standing in a slightly hunched position in the middle of the guildhall and his head titled down to the floor.
Mitch as the first one to notice, "Ah, welcome back boss," he grinned, leaning off of his table.
Michael didn't seem to hear the call, and instead, focused on trying to.. stand upright?
"Uhhh, boss?" Mitch called out again, slight confusion laced in his tone.
Pat and Seeka, now drawn away from their conversation and game of chess, turned their heads to the center of the guildhall. Bren and Colin slowly doing the same as they heard Mitch's third call.
Mitch furrowed his eyebrows, "...Boss?" He called out once more.
Michael quietly grunted, before his body suddenly went limp.
Mitch's eyes widened, along with everyone else's, and he jumped into action. Diving forward and catching Michael's body from hitting the ground.
"Michael!?" Bren instantly stood up from his seat, a worried look etched on his face as he now went over to quickly help Mitch. Pat promptly did the same, a serious expression on his face. Colin looked concerned, he also got up from his seat as Seeka did too. Seeka shared a slightly nervous expression with Colin.
"What the hell," Mitch mumbled to himself, watching as Bren took one of Michael's hands.
"Let's, bring him over here," Bren gave a gesture towards a nearest chair, and Mitch silently nodded in return. He allowed Bren to carry Michael's upper body while he carried the other half. Not willing to let Michael out of his sight until he knew what was up.
Pat cautiously watched as Michael's limp and unconscious body was carefully sat in a chair, and now. It was clear.
Michael's stomach, and right shoulder, had these small slash wounds on them. Blood beginning to slowly seep into his clothes. "What the hell happened to him?" Pat questioned out-loud, giving a discrete glance around the guild. As if someone may be watching them talk.
"Is he okay?" Colin asked, eyebrows raised as he worriedly looked repeatedly up and down at his new guildmasters body. "I don't know." Mitch squinted his eyes, and got a closer look at Michael's wounds. "It just looks like two fresh wounds from a dagger of some kind, he must have just gotten back from a battle."
Seeka's eyes widened, "Someone did that?!" Immediately, he got out his ice staff, quickly glancing all around the guild too with narrowed eyes, just as Pat was.
"He did say he was going out on a mission. Damnit Michael." Bren cursed under his breath, carefully wiping some hair from his tired and drained guildmasters face.
Right on cue, just from the warm touch. Michael began to slightly stir, his face grimacing a bit as his eyes slowly opened. Bren's eyes softened, as himself and the rest of the guild took a huge sigh of relief. Pat and Mitch begin more discrete about it than the others.
"Where?" Michael groggy and quiet voice asked, the first question.
"Grimshade guildhall," Mitch grumbled out, crossing both arms over his chest as he glared at Michael. It had hardly any bite to it, but still, he didn't look happy.
Michael seemed to quietly sigh at that, making the move to sit up. Colin tried to quickly jump in, "W-Wait!" Michael suddenly clenched his jaw, making a pained noise. Bren instantly was there to sit Michael back down. "You're injured, you shouldn't try to move, or speak until we can patch this up," Bren mentioned, motioning towards Michael's two open wounds. They were small, but noticeable.
"Guys, it's really nothing," Michael tried convincing them, blinking his squinting eyes to hopefully get rid of the sleep in them. He felt drained, like his mana was depleted, and very tired.
Mitch scoffed. "That's a lie," Seeka called out, giving a stern point at Michael, he too didn't look happy.
Mitch suddenly whipped his head around, "Seeka, go get the medkit under the bar table. Bren, help Michael get more comfortably sat. Pat, make sure Michael wasn't followed somehow. Colin, stay here with me and Bren." Mitch barked out orders, leaving no room for argument. Not that anyone would anyway.
Pat and Seeka nodded their heads and quickly went to work. Bren would have normally raised an eyebrow, as he was the second in command and usually the one in charge when Michael wasn't. But Michael was hurt right now, his priority was to make sure he was okay.
Colin walked up closer now that there was more room, watching with a mix of sympathy and softness as Bren helped Michael sit better. He felt something stir inside him at the thought of who could of done this.
He wasn't the only one.
"Who did this?" Mitch asked, well, more like demanded as he stood in front of Michael's seat. Tapping his foot impatiently on the ground.
Michael held back a chuckle, not wanting to cause himself more pain. "It was, just an ambush by a couple of pesky thieves. Didn't expect more─" he grunted, "people to show up. Got a bit too cocky."
"Well good news then," Pat suddenly chimed in, causing Bren, Colin, and Mitch to perk as the gunslinger walked back over to them. "They aren't around, and won't be around much longer if they're still walking."
"Oh I'll make sure of it," Mitch growled under his breath, a dangerous glint in his eye.
Bren's own eyes hardened, Pat and Colin's doing the same. "Don't leave us out," Pat grinned a bit Mitch's way.
"What we talking about?" Seeka suddenly brought up, a medkit in hand as he ushered back to the group. "Killing thieves? Oh, I'm in," he slyly smiled, giving the medkit to Bren so he could patch up the boss.
"Really, everyone," Michael quietly chucked, unable to hold it back, but instantly regretted it as he clenched his jaw again. Damn, they really hit hard despite how small these wounds were. "I'm fine, I can assure you, you don't have to─"
"But we want to," Bren cut off, giving a stern look that told Michael to shut up. "Yeah, so be quiet and shut up so Bren can heal you faster," Mitch verbally said, once again huffing out as he glared Michael's way.
Michael gave a look that said he would have raised his hands in surrender if he could. Instead, he rolled his eyes, quietly sighing as he leaned back in his chair. Not resisting his fate. "Alright, alright."
Colin then turned to the group, a rather, dark look in his eyes. "So, those thieves."
"Later," Pat said, making Mitch snap his head to him with a dumbfounded look. "Let's make sure Michael's safe before we jump the gun here," Pat reasoned, pulling out his gun from his inventory pockets. "Literally," he quietly chuckled.
"Awww man," Seeka said, looking bumped out. Colin did too, but they did understand why.
What happened next what kind of a blur for Michael. He oddly remembers some quiet chatter that had lulled him off to sleep once more, the tiredness and mana drain catching up on him once more. He remembers being in what felt like someone's arms, some soft jostling before being set on something warm. And soon, of what probably was a blanket being covered on him before he felt his mind be pulled back into unconsciousness.
The rest of Grimshade watched as their guildmaster, now carefully patched up, quietly snored as he finally went to sleep.
They all seemed to share some type of fond look before quietly leaving their guildmaster to rest.
Later, they had come back inside the guildhall. These either satisfied or smug grins on their faces as they went back to their spots before all this happened, and causally, but quietly bantered again. As not to wake Michael.
Let's just say those thieves won't ever be hurting their guildmaster again.
