The car flips completely on top of us.

Screams from mama and Layla are heard as they rush to us.

I scream in pain when I see the huge chunk of skin taken out of my stomach and arms.

It's silent.

So silent.

And I don't know why.

"IS EVERYONE OKAY?!" mama shouts.

"Mommy it hurts" Eddie cries.

I turn to dad, Nick, uncle Oliver, and grandpa who are trying to get out from under the car... with the dead driver on top of them in the car.

"NO!" mama horrifically screams.

"DON'T LOOK!" dad gets out from the car, struggling to run to Eddie and I to cover our eyes.

But I look.

Genesis lays there in a puddle of blood with a metal bar sticking out of his head.

I sit down at my dining room table with my plate of pancakes in front of me. Sighing, I push it away.

My hand collects my phone and there's a missed call from Eddie. Clearing my throat, I toss my phone across the table as well. My hand runs through my hair and I look down.

Silence.

I chose this for myself.

As I stand up and grab my pancakes, I throw them in the trash.

Ding.

Eddie :
Talk to me dude

His name pops up once again as he calls, but instead of answering, I shut off my phone completely and grab my keys, storming out of the house.

I get into my car, gripping the steering wheel in advance of fixing my mirrors before previous events that happened in this car last night.

I put the car in drive and get out of the long driveway and out onto the road.

And just like every time I go to the store, I take the long route.

Avoiding where the events of ten years ago happened.

My jaw clenches and I watch my arm flex as I turn, with a scar covered by my tattoos.

The only reason I got my tattoos.

Until it became an addiction.

Within minutes of being lost in thought, I pull into walmart and park my car all the way in the back so I have to walk all the way to the doors.

The girl scouts.

The fucking girl scouts get you every time.

And what does my angry ass do?

Buy fucking cookies.

That being said, I walk into the store, grabbing a cart and scanning through aisles.

Without looking at what's in front of me as I keep eyeing the pastas, I bump into a girl who falls.

I clear my throat and she gets up.

My jaw clenches.

"I can't wait! Two more years and I'll be a Red Hooder!" I smile widely.

"You're doing really good already, you're gonna have no problem on your first day on the team" dad pats my back.

"Yeah" I laugh and walk into the store, bumping right into a little girl. "Oh! I'm so sorry!!" I help her up.
