Peter Pan was an adventurous boy who never feared danger. And although he never got in trouble by the orphanage owner for things he did, he was always scolded by other mothers who owned markets around town. They loved He but he only wanted to get out into the world and explore while he's young. Never once did he wish that he was grown up.
As a young boy, his heart was the largest of them all. Pan was a caring child and never saw the doubt in the world but as he began to lose hope of ever getting adopted his heart would swell down until it was barely there.
As he lived in the Pallan Orphanage the only heart he had left began to harden. The orphan life was difficult for young boys, many found refuge in the building and others just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
He was one of them.
"Yo! Peter! Get over here" a boy shouted from the other side of the room. Around him, the usual group of older boys surrounded him. They were always either chanting or laughing at something he had done.
Reluctantly, Pan walked over towards the boy. He and the boy were never good friends, the older boys would always tease him and force him to eat gross things. Though life was tough, he never stopped exploring. But when he does, it always ends in him hurting another.
"There's something in the attic we need. Something you can get. Do you mind getting it for us, Peter?" He asked chuckling.
Pan shook his head. He never liked the name Peter, it reminded him too much of his father so he went by the name 'Pan' and having a name like that made more kids tease him about belonging in the kitchen rather than a orphanage. But sometimes, he preferred his real name. It made him feel real and like a child.
"But can't you get it? You're a lot stronger than I am-" he was cut off by the boy holding his hand up.
"Do you understand the circumstances you're under? If I ask you to do something," the boy drew closer to Pan lowering his voice, "you do it"
The boy pulled back and twisted his lips into a scary smirk, one that would send any of the young boys running.
Peter nervously swallowed a large lump forming in his throat and began walking towards the old, dusty attic.
Climbing the rocky ladder, he was careful to not fall from it and break his arm. The sound of wood cracking made his heart leap in his throat.
He froze in place but the only sound was of his beating heart. He gulped audibly and continued his ascend.
Finally, his hand slammed onto the dusty moist wood of the attic. The air was thick and humid.
"I better not stay up here for long" Pan thought fearing the worst. He walked along the edges of the wooden room feeling his hands on the wood pricking his fingers along the way. Finally, he reached a light. He pulled the cord and the dull, flickering light came flooding the room.
The room was littered with dust and the scent made him gag but he knew he must find the item the boys seeked.
"Now where is it...." He thought searching the entire room for the item. The jingle of keys brought his attention back to the small squared open space where he had entered. Standing there was the head leader of the boys, the one who sent him there, Jonathan.
"W-what are you doing here?!" Pan asked surprised at his sudden entry.
Jonathan simply smirked and jumped down the hole landing with a thump.
Pan dashed towards the hole only to see it come slamming closed. He gripped the metal he yanked at it as hard as he could but to no avail.
He shook his head rapidly, his heart speeding faster in his chest. The air dampened his forehead making his messy bangs stick to his forehead. Already he could feel the moisture gather beneath his arms.
