Over the next few days. We all basically just hang out with Laura, and even Heath comes to visit. We have dinner together, like a family. Viktor and I had discussed staying here until her ribs are healed enough for her walk around. We also talk about everything. He told me we have enough money to be set up for the next few generations. I had asked him how he came into so much money. Apparently, he had relatives’ out there he didn’t know about. They died all died the same day. On his 18th birthday and all the money had gotten turned over to him. The closest person to them in the family blood wise. One was his mother’s brother. Another was his uncle on his fathers’ side. Then last was a female — apparently, his sister. To say I was shocked to learn he had a sister was an understatement and confused me. He said he was to at first. But apparently, his mother had a daughter when she was 15 years old and gave her to another family.
They all died in a separate location, around 5 pm. Nobody knows what happened to them. Or why I should say. But even though neither one of us says it. We both know it was my father. Who else would it be? My father must have known he would get the money. Trying to secure them more payment. Make them richer. My father was a greedy man. I feel like shit knowing my father is the cause of so much pain. This makes me love him even more, though. Because despite all the horrible things my father has done. He still loves me. The daughter of the horrible greedy man. In moments like these. I don’t regret what I did. At that moment, how could I?
I tell Viktor about the visit from MR. Chang. He was pissed off. We got into our first big argument, but I couldn’t handle being mad at him. And I don’t think he could handle being mad at me either, so just ended up fucking it out. What’s done is done and in the past now. I think he wasn’t mad at me about it anyway. More like just playing out the things that could have happened. That and because I didn’t tell him soon enough. Witch on my part was wrong, I will admit. I didn’t do it on purpose, but I just forgot in the midst of crazy. He told me about the home he owns on his private island that he wants us to move to. And of course, he will buy tickets and pay for the trips for Laura and heath anytime they want to come to us.
We make plans to move in a few months, and I’m excited. He told me that I could redecorate the place however I wanted to. Things seem to be better than they were before I was kidnapped. I didn’t know what I am missing when it came to family. One I do miss is dance. I plan to sign up for dance while I’m here, then I take what I learn with me and make my own dances when I leave.
Today we're going to meet his sister. “You ready? I question unbuckling my seat belt. We have driven a long way just to come to her grave. We wanted to meet her. “yeah. Let’s go,” he says, and we get out of the car. I come around to his side and in twine my fingers with his as we walk to find his grave. The grave isn’t very big, so it ends up not being hard to fine.” Grace O’Neal tanner.” I say letting her name roll off my tongue. Were not sure why her last name is different than his. Maybe it was a one-night stand, and her mother didn’t know the father's name? All we know is the DNA test they did when she died matched his.
We both talk to her. But mainly him. Get talks about his mother, his life, me, and how we meet. He also tells her about the baby on the way. By the time we done. Nightfall is here, so we leave stopping to eat at a little dinner.” Welcome to Buskirk’s Dinner,” an older woman says, walking up to us. “Just two,” Viktor says, and she leads up a small booth in the back, handing us two menus. He orders a hot tea, and I order hot chocolate. “I’m sorry you never got to meet her,” I say quietly. He looks up at me and smiles. “It’s okay. It is what is. I would have wanted to meet her if she was alive anyway if I had found out before she died.” He says, and I know I have confusion written on my face. “by meeting her, I would have put her on the mob’s radar,” he explains. “Oh, yeah. I guess if I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t have either.” I confess.
The waiter brings our drink’s cutting off our conversation, setting our drinks down in front of us. “Are you ready to order” she ask. I look at Viktor, embarrassed. I still had not even touched the menu. “Do you have waffles? I ask, knowing the answer already.” Yes, ma’am, we do. Would like to add anything to it? Hash brown, egg, sausage, bacon, or chicken strips? She asks. “I will have fried egg and hash brown, please. Thank you,” I say. Viktor orders the same as me but bacon instead of hash brown. Earlier talk now gone while we wait for our food. We talk about other stuff. Our future. He brings up getting married, and I scrunch my face at him.” Honestly, I don’t want a big wedding. Let’s just get married at the courthouse or in the back yard of our new place with just a few people we know and love. I don’t want a big wedding with a bunch of strangers I don’t know.” I explain. He chuckles. “Not like I have anyone to invite anyway. But don’t you want a big dress and fancy decorations? Isn’t that what every American girl dream’s about.
I shrug my shoulder and smile. “yeah, probably. But not me. If you have already forgotten, I grew up in foster care. Nobody really cares about you in foster care. It's rare that they put you in a good, loving home. Of course, most of the time, they think they are. Its normally the parents are just good at pretending and in the end, want the money they get from doing it.”
“Hm,” he says, sitting back, cocking his head to the side and crossing his arms. “maybe that could be something you want to do with your life? He asks. I frowned, confused, giving him a are you going to explain further look.” Start your program. Making a safe place for foster kids to be placed in. You could build homes all over the world and hire caretakers.” I think about this for a moment loving the idea. “You would let me do this. Use your money and do this, and even though we have a baby on the way?” I ask.
He shrugs his shoulders.” Of course, I would. You could put it all together and make plans and phone calls for the first year. After that, you can do the first part form the home with the baby. Having the homes built and where etc.” Our food being placed in front of us makes my stomach groans.” Yeah, I like that Idea. I think Laura would love it too.” I say, then dig into my food in a very un-ladylike way. Viktor laughs at me then eats his food, and I can’t help but stare at him in wonder. Life is looking up. I hope everything from here on out is smooth sailing.
