So, I don't really know where this would fit into the books, but Hansel is alive, and Rory's parents know about EAS. I hope you like you, please vote and comment if you do! Thank you all so much!!!!!!
I clutched the sword in my sweaty hands, panting. I stepped back, out of range from Chase's sword, and allowed myself to take a break. My arms felt like noodles and even keeping my sword up was a huge effort. I dropped my arms to my sides, the point of the sword dragging on the ground. My mistake. Chase lunged forward, slashing his sword to try and knock mine from my hands. Luckily, I was able to sidestep him, but I was off balance.
"Hey, unfair!" I yelled. He then came at me again, our swords clashing together.
"Your fault for relaxing," Chase said, grinning. He took a jab at my knee, but I easily blocked it.
"We've been doing this for hours Chase! Also, we have to go meet Lena soon," I complained. He slashed at my shoulder and I blocked it again, this time our swords locking.
"What, scared that I'll beat you?" He teased, pushing down harder on my sword.
"Never," I replied. My arms screamed and suddenly my legs buckled. Chase hit my sword hard, sending it flying out of my hands, and clattering to the corner of the court. I scrambled backward to avoid Chase's blade. Chase grinned, sauntering over to me. I backed up more, looking for a way around him and to my sword.
"Any last words?" Chase asked cockily. He swung his sword in fancy twirls while walking toward me. I kept walking backward to avoid the blade and felt my back bump against the wall. Pointing his sword at me he asked,
"Do you surrender?"
"No way!" I said, determined, even though I knew he had already won.
"Come on, we both know you can't get out of this one," he said leaning nearer to me. I felt myself blush at how close he was.
"There's always a way out," I said defiantly, "and I will find it." At this he laughed moving in even closer to me.
"Oh really?" He asked, his breath tickling my neck. My voice caught in my throat, stopping me from answering. Those blue eyes of his were suddenly very close to me and I felt my chest start to flutter. I tried to say something, but all that came out was,
"I...um...um...I...well..." Chase lowered his sword and moved in even closer. I felt my breath catch in my throat. Our noses were almost touching when...
"I need to lock up the training courts for the night," a man's voice said from the far end of the court. Chase immediately pulled away from me and turned to face the person who had spoken. Without Chase blocking my vision I saw who had said something. Internally I groaned and felt my insides wither in embarrassment. Hansel was standing at the door to the courts, smirking.
"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, one eyebrow raised, smiling evilly. If my face was red before that was nothing compared to now.
"Uh we were just trained," Chase said, scratching the back of his neck. Even in the fading evening light I could see the pink in his cheeks.
"Hmmm. Is that what you were doing?" Hansel said in a mocking tone.
"Yup," Chase answered, already sliding toward the door. I followed him, desperately wanting to get away from the sword master's gaze.
"Um so bye," I stuttered.
"Ok then. I'll see you two tomorrow in class," he said, still giving us a weird look. Me and Chase practically ran out the door and into the courtyard. Lena was waiting for us near the Tree of Hope. When she saw us she ran over, exclaiming,
"There you two are! I've been waiting forever. Are you ready to go to the restaurant?"
"I have to go change," I said gesturing to my sweat soaked clothing.
"Yeah me too," Chase chimed in. I looked at the ground, not wanting to make eye contact with him.
"I'll be back in a minute," I mumbled, grabbing my change of clothing and heading toward the bathroom. We had been planning this dinner for a few days and I had been pretty excited for it. Now I wasn't so sure how I felt though, with that whole awkward moment between me and Chase... But I quickly shook it from my head, changed, and went out to spend a fun night with my friends.
I might do a sequel to this, where Chase, Rory, and Lena are at dinner, do you think I should?
