When Jeno mentioned "somewhere special" Jaemin assumed he would be dragged to a romantic park, maybe even a carnival of sorts. What he didn't expect was to see his hellish highschool, devoid of all life because of the time, looming over his terrified body.
The unsettling feeling in his stomach seeped into his bones, now overwhelming all of his senses. Jeno was being violent and abrasive, which was a side of the boy Jaemin had yet to come into contact with.
Jaemin, however, did not speak up about his premonitions until Jeno unlocked the fire exit door in the back of the school.
"What's going on, Jeno? What are we doing here?" Jaemin questioned his lover's motives, causing the grip on his hand to tighten almost painfully.
"Oh, Jaemin," Jeno cooed condescendingly, brushing his knuckles over Jaemin's cheekbones. "You are going to be my savior."
"I don't understand."
Jeno dismissed his question momentarily to pull the hatch leading to the roof open and shoved Jaemin's slender body through.
"I want to be free, Nana." Jeno smiled, his eyes creasing beautifully. Even in the deep of night with ill intent, Jaemin found him breathtaking. His smile faded. "But I can't be until you die."
Jaemin swallowed thickly and glanced around the secluded roof area. Jeno hadn't approached him with a weapon, which meant that the only way for him to die was too...
"Jeno, what? How aren't you free?"
Jeno shoved his shoulder roughly, pushing his body closer to the edge of the roof.
"I need to escape this reality. This space between life and death."
Jaemin tripped but regained his balance.
"You will take my place, won't you, Jaemin?" Jeno reached out to cup Jaemin's pale face in his hands. "Don't you love me?"
"I," Jaemin hesitated. "I do."
Jeno grinned and kissed Jaemin's trembling lips. "Then jump," he whispered.
Jaemin shook his head. "I can't," he cried.
His back hit the ledge, the stone digging into his hips like a sword.
"Oh, you can't?" Jeno cocked his head to the side. "I'll help you."
With a final violent push, Jaemin toppled over the edge, grasping at the air as if it would save him.
And then he died.
