NOVA STARED up at the gold lettering bolted to the wall above the door to the large building that read, 'Hawkins Library'. She had decided to come here for a few reasons: one was to get out of that bare house they'd been locked inside of for a few days, another was to do some assigned homework, and the last was to do a little research of her own on this town. Everyone keeps talking about the boy that went missing last year- they even found a body and had a funeral- but was soon found after a string of peculiar events.

Maybe this tranquil town had some teeth after all.

Dropping her backpack into a table near the very back of the building, Nova started first on her homework assignment. Alec had joined a couple of school clubs under the presumption that he was doing it to blend in more, but she knew it was his own way to escape. She didn't blame him, he was her twin in that fashion- sitting still was not in their list of mastered skills. But the taller Blackwood was much more outgoing than she- he could make friends with a mere smile and finely picked compliments, Nova was more of a ice wall than a warming blanket.

"You don't mind sharing the table, do you?" A young boy's voice broke her from her work and pulled her lavender gaze from black and white paper to cocoa orbs.

"No, go ahead. Public property." She waved to the rest of the table before returning to her work. The kid smiled brightly and dropped his things on the leftover space. As he perused his choices of nonfiction and the make believe, Nova finished her homework and stuffed it back into her bag with a sigh.

"You're one of the new kids, right?" The boy spoke again, his sudden voice making her jump and whirl to face him. He smiled sheepishly at her in apology.

"Yeah, I am. Why?" She pushed to her feet as she asked him his interest. He tailed her down an isle of books as the librarian behind the desk leered at him over the rim of her thick glasses.

"Just curious. We don't get many new people in town and then we suddenly have four show up overnight."

"Four?" She skimmed her fingers over the spines of the different bindings.

"Yeah? You, your brother, Max, and her brother. Not counting parents of course." Nova nodded, she forgot that Billy had a sister. They looked so different it never seemed to click together despite seeing them together quite a few times. And Nova never claimed to be a clever girl. The boy smiled again and stuck out his hand in a belated greeting.

"I'm Dustin, by the way. What's your name?" She eyed his fingers for a second before reaching out to shake his hand gently.

"Nova Blackwood. My twin's Alec Blackwood." Dustin's eyes expanded in amazement at the mention that they were twins.

"Twins? Really? We don't have twins here, that's so cool! Though I should've guessed because you guys look a lot alike- the hair and the eyes and everything. By the way, are those your natural color?" He spoke a mile a minute as Nova fought to keep her laughter in check. That librarian didn't seem all too friendly.
