BILLY'S FATHER stood in the doorway of his son's bedroom, arms crossed and scowling deeply at the two teens in his house. Nova flicked her gaze between the two males, an uneasy feeling settling in the pit of her stomach. Billy didn't seem like himself anymore, he was tense and withdrawn and his grip on her body had shifted from playfully ensnaring to protectively shielding. He had her held to his chest, but he had begun to turn his shoulder to cover most of her from sight. His father's cold glare locked predominantly on his son, it was like he didn't even see her.

"I asked you a question." He snarled at them, the boy dipping his head instinctively at his father's cutting words. "The fuck is this?"

"This is Nova-" The father scowled again, his gaze finally adding the hidden girl in his sharp hatred.

"I don't give a damn what her name is, I don't want you bringing your whores into my house!" Her momentary fear of the man burned into rage. Who did he think he was? Her nails dug gently into his forearms as she fought to keep her rage in very minimal check.

"Excuse me?" Blurted the girl, Neil Hargrove's icy glare sharpening as he locked with her lavender orbs.

"Baby, don't-" Billy mumbled as Neil snarled at the girl who flatly glared back at him like she's done with every other enemy she's come up against before.

"I wasn't talking to you, tramp." Her nails bit deeper into Billy's skin as the man pushed her closer to the end of her patience rope. His grip around her waist released and he turned to face his father, stepping forward a few inches to ensure that the elder Hargrove had to go through him first to get to her. He could take it.

"Nova, go home." Her anger was instantly cooled with the cold wave of shock as it froze her veins and gave her nerves frostbite. Ripping her glare from the man still standing cross-armed in the entryway to the bedroom, she looked over at the closer boy demanding that she leaves.

"What?" Billy never looked away from his father, he was afraid that if he turned away then he would find some way to hurt her. That he would ruin her too. Reaching up, the golden boy gently pried her hands from his skin and nudged her towards the window. What would come next was something he didn't want her to see.

"Please, just go home." Nova lowly growled but did as he asked and slipped back out of the window, not bothering to hide her sneer from the hateful Neil who watched her clamber through his son's window. She ran her gaze over Billy's stiff back before turning away and meandering towards her quiet and bare home. She turned the knob but it remained firmly locked, Alec must've locked it behind himself when hey left for the party. And since she drove Billy home she didn't have the key to get in- not that she needed it. Glancing around to make sure that nobody was outside and could see what she was doing, she wriggled her fingers in preparation for the unpleasant feeling she was about to inflict on herself.

Pressing her hand to the thick oak door, she closed her eyes and focused on the difference between her skin and the door. First her fingers began to feel tingly- like when you sleep wrong and your arm goes numb- and soon the feeling engulfed her entire hand up to her elbow. The next feeling was a bit less tolerable than the numbness, the feeling of her body's molecules slipping and sliding between the stiffer construct of the door's was like running over your body with a steel-wired scrubbing sponge. One wrong move and she could accidentally swap molecules and end up with skin made of oak and a door of muscle and blood. And that would be the exact opposite of blending in.
