I spent as little time in wretched store as possible. I managed to find a dress and a mask. Have I ever mentioned I hate dresses? Don't know why, I just always have.
Tristan tried to call me again a few times, but I refused to answer the phone. I sighed as I carried the dress over my arm to my car. I popped the trunk and gently put the dress in the car. I slammed the trunk shut and looked around for a place to eat. I saw a small sub shop up the street and I locked the car and headed for it. I figured a huge sub would fatten me up a little bit. I slowed down, trying to enjoy being in New York again. I glanced at passerbyers (I don't if that is a word! Lol). I still saw the happy people, but everyonce in awhile I saw the occasional sad person who was alone. That's how I felt. I felt sad and alone.
I looked up to see that I was at the sub shop, I opened the door to see it was slightly busy. A small ring sounded as I walked in, Gosh I hated those. I walked up to the counter and glanced at the menu while I waited for someone to serve me.
"How can I help you today?" A nasally voiced college girl asked.
"I want a foot long club sandwhich. Oh, and a large Dr. Pepper and.... hmm a bag of Sunchips." I responded as I pulled out my wallet.
"Okay. That will be 10.98." She said. I pulled out a twenty and handed it to her.
"Keep the change." I mumbled. She nodded and turned to make the sub. I tapped my foot as I waited. I glanced around the shop, it was small, rundown.
"Here you go." I turned and smiled, I grabbed my food and went to leave the shop. I took a small drink of my Dr. Pepper.
"Mmmm." I whispered. I unlocked my car and walked over to it, plopping down in the front seat and opening my sub. I took a huge bite. I gobbled down my meal quickly, enjoying every bite. I chucked the wrappers out of my window and started the engine. "Off to Maine!"
I arrived in Maine 5 days later. I was about half an hour from the Mansion when Tristan called me. I sighed and gave in, answering the phone.
"Hello?"
"Oh thank god! You finally answered the phone! Took you long enough! Five freaking days is a long time to ignore someone!" Tristan yelled.
"Shut up Tristan. What do you want?" I responded angrily.
"When will you be back? I can't train them by myself!"
"I don't know Tristan!"
"Of course not... Plus, Stefan, Aaron, and Daniel had to go do something this weekend, so I am left in charge of these unruly wolves. Please, just come back!"
"Soon, I hope it will be soon. Tris, I have to go. Bye."
"Hmph. Bye." The line went dead. I groaned and tossed my phone in the passengers seat. A few yards in front of me stood a large black gate. I slowly drove up to it, stopping when it didn't open.
"Hello. May I see your invitation?" A voice said. I whipped my head to the side to see an elderly man wearing a tux, standing right outside my car. I pushed the 'window down' button and smiled apologetically.
"I apologize, I didn't even see you there. Let me grab it." I responded. The man nodded and waited patiently while I dug through my purse. I plucked it out and handed it to the man. He gently opened it and nodded in satisfaction.
"Everything seems good, Ms. Zia. Please proceed to the house. Someone will park you car and take your bags." The man said, I looked over to see the gate opening perfectly on cue.
"Thank y-" I began to say, but was shocked to see he was gone. I rolled my eyes and slowly drove down the cement driveway. Beautiful landscaping covered the property, flowers of every color and bushes in every shape were arranged around the drive.
As soon as the house came into view my jaw dropped.
The Elder's Mansion was huge. Pure white paint covered every inch of the outside. It was 6 stories tall, several tower like buildings rose above the main house. Balconeys appeared on every few windows, a huge porch with 2 spiral staircases led to the beautiful red front door. I could see stables maybe 20 yards away from the house, and several guest houses dotted the property.
"Woah." I whispered, I pulled into the circle driveway and pulled my car to a stop. I shut the engine off and got out of my car.
"Hello there, I can take your keys, and my friend here can take your bags." A vallet said.
"Thank you. Here are the keys." I mumbled, I handed him the keys, while the other guy pulled out my bags.
"Come this way please." The one with my bags said, I nodded and followed him towards the Mansion. My jaw dropped as we walked through the lobby and up a Grand Staircase. The man led my up to the second floor and then pulled a key out of his pocket and opened a door. I walked into the room,
"This will be your room! Have a nice stay and get me if you need anything! Here is your key." He said cheerly. I nodded and smiled, watching as he walked out of the room.
It was large, a lavish couch and TV sat in the middle of the room, a huge king bed and dresser sat on another wall, there was a door leading to a bathroom and several large windows. I sighed and walked over to the couch, collapsing on it. A small pamphlet was sitting on the coffee table, I sighed and picked it up.
WELCOME!
If you are here for the Annual Masquerade Ball then you will need to be at the BALLROOM on July 28th at 6 pm. We will be happy to see you there!
I groaned, I only had three hours to get ready for this ball. I walked over to my bags and pulled the dress bag of the neatly stacked suitcases. I walked into the large bathroom and hung it on a rack. I looked at myself in the mirror.
I looked tired, weak. I was afraid even makeup and a mask couldn't cover up my fear.
I shook my head, pushing away those bad thoughts. I quickly grabbed my makeup case and began to apply makeup, I did my hair and then slipped my dress on. I heard a loud bell ringing, I looked at my clock to see it was 5:45. I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror as I grabbed a clutch and almost left.
A long white dress covered my slim frame. Gold flower-like accents covered the dress, a gold sash wrapped around my waist, making it look even more tiny. Gold and white gems covered the breast making it shine in the light.
I gently pulled my mask over my face, careful not to mess up my makeup. My mask matched my dress, it was gold with small crystal like gems surrounding the eyes. I smiled in satisfaction and turned around and walked out of the room, locking the door behind me. I walked down the hall, heading for where I had seen the ballroom earlier.
Werewolves from all around were packed into the hall. I walked into the room. I scanned the room, shocked when I felt my eyes locked onto someone.
Daniel. He looked back, his eyes filled with shock.
"Hello." A voice whispered behind me. I swiftly turned, shocked to see...
