Sebastian's POV

I took a leap towards a giant oak tree lying on the floor bed before I pick up my pace running in the direction of the pack border. My Wolf, Jay, decided I needed a run to take my mind out of the mess a rogue caused earlier. After checking the area together with my best fighters, my Wolf acted out taking control of my mind and just took off and run headed to the forest.

I am nearing the border of my pack when an intoxicating scent hit my wolf's muzzle. A mixture of freshly cut grass and chocolate. I know others may think its a weird combination but these two are my favorite scents and them together with a pang of sweetness and sparks just makes me and my wolf agitated. A scent I could die for. It is making my Wolf on edge. He is excited by something. Something I couldn't pinpoint. I couldn't keep control with my wolf, he acted out of instinct jumping and running towards whatever is that scent he was so addicted about.

The scent is intoxicating enough to make my wolf act aggressively. I am not stupid not to realize what this scent means. I am just not ready to apprehend what it is. Or rather, who it could be. Every wolf is waiting for this time of their lives to come and I am not an exception. After my first shift, I have been waiting for this moment. It has been nearly 7 years and finally, I found her.

After seconds of running, I realized I was standing near the pack's border face to face with the river separating my territory from humans. I inhaled deeply figuring the scent is beyond the river. Fading due to the winds heading south opposite to my pack.

I shift to my man's form so that I could cross the river. I mean, I can manage to swim across it using my wolf's form, but Jay really doesn't like water. Don't get me wrong, he just doesn't like getting wet.

I walked carefully towards the river. Slowly taking steps so that I won't tripped over. The river is peaceful that is why I loved coming here before I took up the Alpha role after my 21st birthday. Just 2 years ago.

Every wolf shifts for the first time when they turned 16. On our first shift, we are taught to spend most of our time in wolf form so that we could get along with our wolves. Because if you haven't spent time with your wolf, it will take control of your mind and body, it'll be hard for you to take over. Makes you a rogue.

Being an Alpha or should I say, next in line, I have to set as an example to all first shifters. Luckily, Jay and I have gotten along within the first few minutes of being shifted.

As I ascended to the river bed, I immediately smelled the surroundings so that I could locate where the scent is coming from. After sniffing, I found myself heading to the forest where the scent is lingering mixed with, wait, an Alpha. There is an Alpha's scent present. And blood. My brows almost connect, my eyes squinting and my lips in a thin line. She, she couldn't be with someone. I am her mate. I am the Moon's blessing to her. We are each other's other half.

Sniffing the air for the last time, a twig snap on my left. I put my guard up, it may be a rogue. I sniff and took a step back after realizing the smell. I focus my eyes towards the intruder and there are two shadows walking, heading to me. I stand my ground and held my head up high. I am an Alpha, I don't bow to anyone.

Finally, they are now standing in front of me.

"What a pleasant surprise to see you here, Alpha."

The man said addressing to me. An old Alpha near the borders of my pack. Now this is interesting.

"Likewise. Tell me, what are you doing near my borders together with your mate."

I keep my voice sharp so that they understand I am not pleased. I look at the woman beside him and nod acknowledging her presence and she responds with a sly smile.

"Ah. Hijo, you are so straightforward. That's what I like about you. I won't sugarcoat anything so I'll tell you right away. You see, days ago my son found something interesting around here."

This caught my full attention. Neverminding my nudity, shifters tend to nudity.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Caught your attention now do I? We are on vacation and as what he had told us, he was taking a walk around here when a smell hit him. Not the kind of smell that makes your wolf excited,

He said, eyeing me suspiciously. He might be wondering why I am out of my packs border when I don't really like getting out in the open. I nodded so that he could continue, I listened as he continues.

---It was a smell of human mixed with blood. Now that is something unusual considering the distance of this place from the humans, so he followed the smell and it leads him to a small cabin. Well, if you will take a look at it, it seems normal to the human eye, but not to us. He broke into the cabin and follows the smell. And in the basement, he found someone. Bruises, cuts, scars, name it all. She has them. She experienced something nobody, most especially a human, could ever handle.---

His wife is wiping the tears that slip down her cheeks. Seeing her reaction, that 'someone' might have suffered something unexplainable, inhumane.

---he help her escape though it was all executed by the human, he can't intervene knowing his enemy would be another wolf. You know, wolf's honor. In the end, the human almost died due to the wounds she acquired by escaping inflicted by the wolf who chained her. So my son, you see, he gave his blood to her---

I hid my gasp with a cough. We wolves don't  simply give away our blood just to help a human. There is no rule regarding that but not many wolves have done such. Though I truly understand where his coming. Maybe the human was in grave danger due to the injury she attained. He continue,

---to save her from a nearly death situation. She is now on a pack in Vancouver as we speak, trying to recover from all her injuries. We also planned to stay there for a while since the full moon is coming and we need to guide her through her first shift. I am here because I was ask by my son to check the area and to, of course, cover everything up. Just when we are about to end, you came. So tell me Alpha, what are doing out here?"

"It is none of your concern. Finish what you came here for and I'll leave you be."

"I would watch my tone if I were you. If you haven't forget, I am also an Alpha. Anyways, if you want to see her, I would mind my attitude."

"What makes you think I want to meet that pathetic excuse of a human you are talking about?"

"You might want to take that back Alpha. She is, after all, your mate."

A gasp escape from his mate's mouth. I looked away not ready to acknowledge what he revealed just now. Of course I know she's my mate. She became my mate the moment she was given a wolf blood. She became mine the moment she opened her eyes from being unconscious due to the venom spreading. She's mine. And mine alone. A growl made its way to my mouth.

"Don't you dare take my mate away from me."

"I won't. She's all yours. But for now, I may have to. She isn't accustomed to our tradition yet so it will be overwhelming if she'll be taken away from the person who help her don't you think? I assure you, no harm will come to her."

I thought about what he said. I need to think the possibilities if I force her to come with me. We might end up on a different page. Though Jay wants to seize her and claim her. I tried reasoning with him so he would understand what happens if whatever he wants takes place.

"Do I have your word?"

"Of course, Alpha. In fact, I'll take her under my wing if that will make you feel better."

"Alright. Keep your word. I have to leave now, I'll let you be. Good day."

"You too Alpha. Good day."
