Memories

I had a long day at work. I just arrived from the coffee shop. Every Thursday, I am the one who closes it. So, I have to stay late. Jimin wasn't even at home as he was doing a broadcast for a radio show. The days were getting shorter and it was getting colder as Winter as just around the corner. 

 My family used to go on a holiday during the Winter holidays. We used to go to different parts of Korea, we also went to Australia once. It was so amazing to experience a different culture and the Summer heat. When it is Winter in Korea, it is Summer in Australia. It was so pleasant to get away from the cold and experiencing the heat.

My aunt from my mum's side lived in Australia. It was the best Summer I had when we went on holiday, spending so much time with my cousins. There wasn't a big age gap between us so we had many things in common. We were still in touch till and I loved calling them and catching up with them. 

My train of thoughts were interrupted when I receive a call from Jimin. He told me that he would be very late at home and I don't need to wait for him. He reassured that he already had dinner and I don't need to cook for him. I was a bit saddened by that as I prefer eating dinner with Jimin and cuddling in bed with him. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to go.

I went inside the bedroom to get my phone charger as my phone was nearly dead. I thought I put it on my bedside table but I couldn't find it. I tried searching for it in every drawer there was in the bedroom but it was useless. The only place I didn't search was Jimin's bedside drawer. I was skeptic that it was there but I still gave it a try.

When I opened the drawer I had the biggest surprise of my life. I found a small box and when I opened it I found a beautiful engagement ring inside. All of a sudden my head started spinning. I had to lay down on the bed so I wouldn't trip. Memories of Jimin before the accident started appearing. I was finally remembering everything about our relationship. 

I remembered how we met, how he used to come over to my apartment when he was feeling under the weather or had a bad day. I remember the day we bought the apartment and how nervous I was in meeting the boys for the first time. Last but not least I remember the accident. I was so eager to tell Jimin about my memories but I didn't know how to explain to him how it happened.

I don't want to ruin his proposal. I was contented that he intended on proposing to me but downhearted that I found the ring and ruined the surprise. Why did he put it there out of all the places; in arm's reach? I needed to figure out a way how to tell him without revealing what actually happened.

I arrived so late at home that Hwayoung was fast asleep when I arrived. The next day I had to wake up early. Hwayoung was still asleep so I couldn't even talk to her. I miss her, I miss not being with her when she falls asleep and wakes up. I decided to leave her a note like I usually do if I head out early before she wakes up. When I arrived at agency the boys saw how gloomy I was.

Hoseok: I know it was suppose to be a surprise but I can't hold it any longer. You are so tired and low-spirited Jimin I have to reveal it.

Jimin: What's going on?

Hoseok: Today we can leave early!

Jimin: Oh really?! Don't we have a lot of things to do today? I thought this week is a very busy week as special stages for Christmas festivals are in less than a month.

Namjoon: PDnim saw how tired we are getting with the constant work we are doing so he decided that we deserve an evening at home.

Jimin: I can finally have a night with Hwayoung! I haven't had that in a week. I am arriving home to find her sleeping and I leave early to come here. She will be so happy. This just made my day!

Hwayoung was usually the first to arrive home but not today. When I arrived, the apartment was so quiet. There was no sound of Hwayoung's voice. When Hwayoung arrived she was so surprised to see me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me a deep passionate but hungry kiss.  

Hwayoung: Oh how much I missed this, not being able to kiss you because I don't see your handsome face when I wake up.

That evening I decided to help Hwayoung to cook and learn a bit from her. I tried to keep my attention to what she was saying but my attention just goes back to her beautiful face.

Hwayoung: So now we add the chicken.

Jimin: Ah ha.

Hwayoung: Jimin are you even listening to what I am saying?

Jimin: Ah ha.

Hwayoung: JIMIN!

Jimin: What what?

Hwayoung: What was I saying?

Jimin: Ummmmmmm

Hwayoung: If you want to learn, pay attention to what I say!

Jimin: Sorry I don't think I can learn from you. I keep getting distracted by your beauty. 

After dinner it started to rain and the sound of thunder could be heard. I started getting uncomfortable as I hated the sound of thunder.

Hwayoung: Jimin are you ok? I know how much you hate the sound of thunder.

Jimin: Wait. How do you know I hate the sound of thunder? I never told you that after the accident. Did you get your memories back?!

Hwayoung: It's a long story but yes.

Jimin: Why didn't you tell me?! Hwayoung how long have you remembered?

Hwayoung: Since yesterday. Let me explain. I wanted to tell you, I really did. I was trying to find my charger and I couldn't find it anywhere. When I opened the drawer of your bedside table I found an engagement ring and all of a sudden I remember everything. I didn't want to tell you that I remembered because I didn't want to ruin the proposal!

Jimin: Wait here. 

Now that she knew I might as well propose to her. What's there to lose. I found the ring and went back in the living room standing on one knee in front of Hwayoung.

Jimin: Hwayoung, we have been through so much together and even when you didn't remember me, we ended up being with each other again. Hwayoung I don't imagine my life without you. My life would be empty without you. You make my life filled with so much joy and I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to have a family with you one day. We have so much to look forward to in our future together and I can't wait to live my happiest and also saddest days of my life with you. So will you marry me Hwayoung?

Hwayoung: *tears in her eyes* Yes of course Jimin. Yes!

Jimin: I know this isn't the ideal proposal and I wanted to make it more memorable but it's no point in waiting to propose if you already found the ring. I should have placed it somewhere better I-

Hwayoung cut me off by placing her lips on my mine. 

Hwayoung: Jimin it was perfect! It was an amazing proposal and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I am sorry I didn't tell you about my memories. 

Jimin: I understand why you didn't tell me sooner. I had this ring for two years. I was going to propose to you but then the accident happen. I was still planning on doing it but now I am glad that I did it.

Hwayoung: The ring is so beautiful I love it. You choose an amazing ring Jimin!

Jimin: I thought you would love it. I took so long to propose to you. Should have done it sooner.

Hwayoung: So now I am your fiance'!

Jimin: You're the future Mrs Park! 

I was so happy that I ended up proposing to Hwayoung. It didn't go as expected but I am so glad it had happened. Hwayoung had her memories back and that made me even happier. I couldn't wait to marry her and live a long and fulfilling life with her by my side.
