While Dr. Hatake worked on locating the Ripper, Tokoyami and Jiro began patrolling the city in search for the Ripper. Tokoyami and Jiro were determined to catch the Ripper. Meanwhile in a desolate alleyway, the Ripper holds a woman hostage surrounded by several corpses
Woman: Why.....why are you doing this....
The Ripper: Tonight's a wonderful night for art! Just a moment.....
The Ripper then carves several tally marks onto his flesh with a sick smile on his face. Seeing this horrifies the woman as he finishes.
The Ripper: Now where were we.....
Woman: HELP! HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!
Nearby, Tokoyami and Jiro hear the screams and immediately rush to the alleyway. Upon entering the alleyway, they are horrified to see corpses and the smiling Ripper.
The Ripper: Well goddamn! This must be my lucky day! I was hoping get some good Heroes! It's so wonderful to see you two again!
Jiro: You monster!
The Ripper: Eh. I'm more of an artist. Now what do you think of my new uniform? Pretty sick huh?
Tokoyami and Jiro simply glared at the Ripper while they prepared their Quirks. As the woman hides in a corner, the Ripper lets out a disappointed sigh.
The Ripper: Tough fucking crowd.
As the Ripper looks around, he uses his Blood Control Quirk to use the blood from a scythe. As he flashes a wicked smile, Tokoyami turns to Jiro.
Tokoyami: Remember what Dr. Hatake said. We'll take him together.
Jiro: Got it.
The Ripper: Hatake? You mean the Doc's still kicking? Guess I gotta pay him a little visit. But first....
Without hesitation, the Ripper begins swinging the blood scythe wildly at the two Heroes. Tokoyami uses Dark Shadow to attack the Ripper, but he was able to dodge his attacks. Jiro lands a kick to his face, causing him to laugh.
The Ripper: I love a girl who fights hard! Gives me the biggest smile on my face!
Jiro: I'll wipe that smile off your face!
Jiro then uses her Earphone Jacks to attempt to shock the Ripper with vibrations, but only annoys him.
The Ripper: Don't make me cut those off!
Tokoyami then uses Dark Shadow to land a devastating punch while Jiro restrains him. Tokoyami then looks to the woman.
Tokoyami: Run!
As the woman begins to run, the Ripper headbutts Jiro and forms a spear from a cut on his arm. With a smile, the throws the spear which impales the woman through the heart.
Tokoyami: NO!
Jiro then rushes to the woman, but sees that she was dead before she hit the floor. Tokoyami was horrified as the Ripper laughed.
The Ripper: Talk about a heartbreaker!
Tokoyami's emotions soon overwhelmed him as Dark Shadow began to take over. Jiro looks on in shock, knowing what was happening.
Jiro: On no.....
The Ripper: Well this just got interesting. Let's see where this goes!
As the Ripper attacks, Dark Shadow takes complete control of Tokoyami's body and lets out a deafening roar. This stops the Ripper in his tracks.
Dark Shadow: RRRRAAAARRRRGGGG!!! LET'S SEE WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF RIPPER!
As Dark Shadow screamed this, the Ripper slashes at Dark Shadow, but the attack in ineffective. Dark Shadow lets out a bellowing laugh as he swats the Ripper away like a fly. Jiro looks at the display with horror in her eyes.
Jiro: I have to stop this before it goes too far!
When the Ripper slashes at Dark Shadow once more, Dark Shadow grabs the Ripper.
Dark Shadow: YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A PSYCHOTIC LITTLE BUG! AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO BUGS?! THEY GET CRUSHED!
As Dark Shadow begins to apply pressure on the Ripper, he simply laughs. Suddenly, Jiro attacks Dark Shadow. This causes Dark Shadow to throw against the side of a building. This causes the Ripper's shoulder to be dislocated. The Ripper immediately relocates it.
The Ripper: Argh! Fucking shit!
After doing that, he sees Jiro dodging the monstrous Dark Shadow.
The Ripper: (Looks like I'm outmatched here. Better go pay the Doc a visit.....)
The Ripper then runs away as Jiro continues dodging Dark Shadow's attacks. As she does so, Jiro sees Tokoyami struggling from withing.
Tokoyami: Jiro.....gets.....away.....
Jiro: Fight back!
Dark Shadow continues to attack Jiro as she dodges the attack. Eventually, Dark Shadow lands a punch on it that sends her to the ground. As she crawls away, fear and regret grips Jiro's mind. In a last ditch effort to combat Dark Shadow, Jiro unleashes her Heartbeat Fuzz on Dark Shadow. The intense sound and vibrations cause great pain to Dark Shadow.
Dark Shadow: STOP! MAKE IT STOP! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!
Jiro continues unleashing her Heartbeat Fuzz attack on Dark Shadow until the intense vibrations prove to be too much for Dark Shadow as he dissipates completely, freeing Tokoyami. Tokoyami collapses to the ground as Jiro rushes over to him.
Jiro: Tokoyami! Tokoyami!
Tokoyami slowly recovers from Dark Shadow's control.
Tokoyami: Jiro......
Jiro: Tokoyami! Thank God you're all right!
Jiro then tightly hugs Tokoyami. As she does, Tokoyami looks around at all the bodies the the Ripper left behind. Seeing all the bodies left behind by the Ripper filled Tokoyami with regret.
Tokoyami: The Ripper.....
Jiro: He got away.
Tokoyami: Damn it....damn it!
Jiro: Come on. There's nothing more we can do about it tonight. We need to get you back to my place.
Tokoyami didn't want to stop the patrol, but he knew there was nothing more he could do. His mind was filled with regret at not only the lives taken by the Ripper, but also losing control of Dark Shadow. Jiro's mind was all over the place due to having to help her crush fight off his own Quirk and now he was taking her back to her place. With their encounter with the Ripper ended in failure, Tokoyami and Jiro were now licking their wounds.
