K O A

My throat burns as I gulp, grasping the door knob and pushing the door open, closing it behind me. Scanning my surroundings there seems to be no one in sight. I wander through the entire downstairs to make sure nobody is here. I grab the stair rail and walk into Knox's room. Sounds like he's leaving Eileen another message.

"Hey." I murmur.

He drops his phone on his bed and pulls me into a bear hug. "Koa!" He pinches my arm, "We haven't heard from you in weeks. What the hell!"

"Knox, I've been trying to reach you and Princeton without having to come here, but everything went straight to voicemail, did you get any of my messages?"

He scrolls through his phone, shaking his head. "No."

"Leelan was telling me-"

"Leelan? Clemens?" He inquires with an arched brow.

"Yes."

"When did you talk to Leelan?"

"Just a few days ago." I clarify.

He crosses his arms over his bare chest, "Since when did you start talking to Leelan?"

"Since Opal became my girlfriend."

"Whoa! Back the truck up. You and Opal are a thing now? How long has this been going on?"

"A little over a month-"

His blue eyes scan across my face before zoning in on my neck. His hands shoot up to my face, grabbing my head and looking at my neck. "Is that.. a hickey?"

I rub the bruise that Opal has left on me like it hurts. "Yes."

"Wow."

"Where's Princeton Knox?" I ask, staring at a picture of all three of us hanging on his wall.

"He's in the shower. Why?"

"Well," I sit on the edge of his bed. "A few weeks ago Wilson told me that Princeton started therapy with him. Did you know that?"

"No, I had no clue. Did he say when or why?"

"He's not allowed to tell me why. Yesterday I asked him when, and he said three months ago he started coming in on Mondays."

He widens his stance in front of me, brushing his hair back with his hand. "He told me he joined a school club of some sorts and it was only after school on Monday's."
