"I see the meteorite engagement ring has caught your eye sir." The man says in his bougie accent, scratching his hairless head.

Nodding I lean in closer, "May I look at it?"

"Certainly sir." He unlocks the cabinet, pulling the velvet tray with the ring out. "What do you think?"

"I think... it's perfect. Could I get it sized asap? I'm kinda in a hurry."

"What size would you need?"

"Seven."

He smiles, "Looks like it's already at the correct size. Would I be able to help you with anything else?"

Shaking my head I follow him to the cash register, pulling out my wallet. Glancing out the corner of my eye, I notice a raw labradorite necklace with tiny diamonds embedded in the chain. "Actually, can I get this too?"

He grabs the necklace, skimming over the price tag. "The ring alone is twenty grand, this necklace is nearly sixty grand, are you certain?"

I pull my card out and hand it to him. "Do you take debit cards?"

-

Closing the door behind me I see Eileen and Knox chuckling about something. "Hey Eileen, could you give me a minute with Knox?"

She pushes herself out of her chair, "Of course Koa."

As soon as she exits the room I dart towards his bed side, pulling the small black bag out of my jacket pocket. "I got it."

"Let me see." He says eagerly. I pull the velvet box out, propping it open for him to see. "That's perfect Koa. Thank you. Eileen will love this." He mutters to himself, holding the box in between his hands. His small gleeful smile slowly growing larger.

"So, doctor said I get to go home today." He tells me.

Gripping the end of his bed my hands roll, "You think that's a good idea?"

"It's better than this depressing place."

"Knox, why won't you tell anyone what really happened?"

He shoves the box in his jeans pocket that lays on the side table. Readjusting himself on the bed, he pushes himself off. Pulling his hospital gown off he pulls the jeans on. The bruises he gained two weeks ago are still prominent, not faded in the slightest.  He shakes his head and grumbles something beneath his breath.

"You are being so unreasonable Knox."

He steadies himself before glaring at me. "I'm being unreasonable? Koa, you have been so unreasonable these past four years. You have no right to tell me I'm being unreasonable. There are things I prefer to keep to myself, and you need to respect that." He says sternly.
