"The moon is beautiful, isn't it? Tomioka-san." The Insect Pillar said, her eyes looking up at the beautiful moon, lighting up their dark surroundings.
The Water Pillar, Tomioka Giyuu, didn't respond.
"If you don't like it, then could you please not ignore it?" Shinobu said, tucking her few loose locks on her ear. "It's such a calm night with the moon."
"Come on, let's talk about the moon." Shinobu said, pouting her lips, "Are you not interested? But I'm in the mood to talk."
A smile formed her lips as a cold wind passed by them, her hair and his swayed with it quietly.
"The moon is so beautiful, because the sun gives light to it. But the dark side is different from the front side." She glanced at the moon, "If you see it, you'll be disappointed."
"...The moon and I are similar."
She muterred, "I dress myself beautifully, but the real me, my back, is nothing but full of ugliness." She continued, "Without a brightly lit presence, it's difficult to hide my presence."
An image of her older sister came to mind, "No matter how much light I'll wear, I will never be as beautiful as the sun." She smiled sadly, shutting her eyes. "Tomioka-san, what do you--"
"It's beautiful."
Her eyes widened upon hearing the silent guy's response, not expecting him to cut her off like that.
"The moon is always illuminating as with an abundant light." He said with his usual monotone voice, "Just being here is worth it."
"Unwavering," his voice cracked as the rain drops started falling, "strong, bright, gentle..."
He stopped, a single tear falling from his eye, but it was unnoticed because of the rain drops, "As if..." you are the moon.
A beautiful chuckle escaped her lips, reaching his ears, sounding like a beautiful melody, "That's an unusual answer. But I feel like I get it, somehow... Thank you, Tomioka-san."
Silence.
Giyuu glanced beside him, where Shinobu was sitting, but saw nothing besides himself. He glanced back at the moon, sighing as he carressed the butterfly ornament. "This moonlit night is too beautiful to be alone."
Tears fell from his aqua blue eyes.
That quiet, peaceful night was nothing but a horrible moment for Giyuu, as his sobs was the only thing he could hear.
