ALEXIA

I flopped downstairs in my knee-high boots. Aunt Jackie glanced up from the sofa, "And where are you going, Alexia?" She announced with her voice so stern and parental. It's only been almost a month with us just lingering around here I was surprised how grown up she's gotten since the last time she saw us.

"I'm going out with Sam to the bonfire downtown," I answered. I opened the closet to grab my keys.

"Can I ask you something?" She got up from the sofa to lean against the counter. Noah came downstairs, her glance shifted from me to him and my heart began to throb when just thinking about the question she could ask, Will she ask about me and him, Will she disapprove about us Or ask if Hunter can go instead of Noah. (Shitty thoughts about damn boy stuff, what's wrong with me )

"The Keeper senses are very heightened. Every Keeper has one that stands out from all of them. The report I got back from Alice claims that you have the sense of smell is very heightened. Have you ever get the sent of Copper rush through your sinuses lately?" The hiss of her soda bottle made me jump a little. Shit, she's on to me.

"No not, in particular, Humans smell like body order and copper but not as pungent as a Deratailian's sent. Did you know that fat people have their own unique smell to them, you can sense it a mile away," I could feel the cold sweat freeze my skin holding me still in time. She has in the trance of the hidden truth.

"Alright then, go have fun. Be home at 9 with Noah," She smiled. I could feel the tension stiffen in the room.

"Thanks," The dark living room was lit up with the overcast of headlights pulling into the driveway. Her eyebrows arched as she started to grab for her gun in the utensils draw, I held her wrist for some reinsurance just so she doesn't shoot the "magical gun" from the goddamn utensils, "It's just Sam from the diner she wanted us to hang out together," I calmed her.

" Oh she's such a sweet kid, Alright go but be home at 9," She said. I turned to walk out of the homes as her hand reached out for her phone to dial someone.

"Bye Aunt Jackie!"I shouted.

"Oh yeah, bye kid," She replied in a strange way. Sam opened the back doors to the truck she was in. A guy our age was driving the truck. Slim, Brown scruffy hair, Not a football player.

Stepping in I said, "Whos he?" Noah got in after me and she closed the door.

"This is Matt he's my cousin, Well older second cousin," She laughed.

Matt stopped at the red light and turned to us.

"So Cali Girl, do you like it here so far?" He asked.

"The time zones and the weather is the only thing that is getting to me," I started to stare out the window. The clouds masked the night sky keeping the moon concealed once more tonight. Noah yawned and placed his arm around my neck, Classic movie pretty boy.

The scent of alcohol burned my nose just walking out as it clung on all the idiots that surrounded me.

"Hay it's the Cali Girl!" Jake yelled. The tipped over with the can in his hand and the other of the side of his pick up.

"What do you want?" I stared at the slop before me. My placed his hand on my shoulder and let out a toxic puff of air in my face. I wanted to slap him and that stupid smile on his face.

"Well I want you of course," He leaned in. Noah started to walk over to kill this guy but the punch to the nuts which really knocked him down before Noah could. I placed my pointy nail under his chin as I stood him.
