Fifteen-year-old twins Cecilia and Kristin McCureman had a nearly perfect life in Scotland. However, packing up and moving to America, due to a money scandal their father was involved in, will definitely change everything. If moving to a new country...
The ocean. The only thing that isn't changing because of the big move is the fact that we will still live by the ocean. My sister and I always loved it, and I don't know about her, but it always made me feel at peace. But now, sitting in the back seat of this rental car looking out at the ocean, I've never been more scared.
The town we're moving to is Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Most people think that it's pretty small, but it's huge compared to our hometown in Scotland. I'll miss it so much, and I know my family will too. I hope the people here in Maine will show the same kindness towards us, because no matter how much we don't want to admit it, we really need it right now. All of these thoughts raced through my mind the whole trip. Although I was trying to put myself at ease, it seemed like I was only making it worse.
"Hungry?"my dad asked, trying to break the silence that had carried on for far too long.
"No,"Cameron answered dryly.
You see, the reason we're moving to America in the first place is because of a money scandal that my father was allegedly involved in at work. I wish I could go into more detail about it, but honestly that's about all I know about the situation. My mam and dad, usually very open people, have been keeping the details of the scandal very disclosed. Although my sister and I have discussed and decided that we are willing to give America a chance, our brother Cameron has taken the move the hardest of us all.
Although the plane ride was longer, this car ride from the airport has seemed to last an eternity. I'm not sure if it's the fact that there has been an awkward silence for the majority of the ride, or the fact that none of us know what the future holds when we pull into that driveway. Interrupting my thoughts, my mother clapped her hands together loudly, and exclaimed,"We're here!" All of the commotion woke Kristin up from her nap, and she turned to me with her hair sticking up in every direction,"Huh?" All I did was grin at her confusion, because I knew that if I spoke I may throw up all of the nerves.
Wow. The house was beautiful, and by the looks my family had on their faces I could tell that they thought the same.

As everyone was gawking at our new home, I heard footsteps approaching. I slowly turned to see a tall brunette boy with a muscular and lean build. He looked maybe 17 or 18 and had a beautiful smile.
"You must be the new neighbors,"this mysterious boy said.
I turned back around to see that the rest of my family had yet to see the boy and sighed, realizing that I would have to talk with him alone. "Yeah, Cecilia McCureman. Nice to meet you."
Who is this guy?
"Wow. My parents said you guys were from Scotland but I didn't think it was actually true. You know how small towns like to gossip. But seriously, your accent is so cool."
I just laughed, a little uneasy, because he had still given no introduction.
"Oh god, sorry. You probably think I'm some kind of stalker. I'm Shawn Mendes. We live across the street."
Without turning back around, he casually pointed to the huge house behind him.
Shawn's house:

"Well this is my family."
I pointed behind me to my dad and brother arguing in the driveway and my mam and sister struggling to get the heavy luggage out of the car. I felt my cheeks heat in embarrassment.
"It's been a rough day," I sighed.
Shawn just chuckled,"I'll go help with luggage," and brushed past me.
He then turned back around and smiled,"Oh. By the way, welcome to Cape Elizabeth."
Just as I was about to turn around and help my distressed family and poor Shawn, who I figured was probably getting interrogated by my mam, I saw something.
In the window of the top floor of Shawn's house across the street, I saw a boy. After meeting Shawn, I thought that I may start to develop a crush on him, but after seeing this boy in the window, that thought quickly faded away. I couldn't get a good look at him from across the street, and since he was on the third story of a house, but I could make out most details. He had messy blonde hair and shared the same muscular and lean build as Shawn but appeared to be a little younger. So, here I was, looking at the most beautiful boy I had ever seen, standing casually with his arms crossed, as he looked back at me. The moment took my breath for a second, but before I could even so much as smile, he went away.
