Zack and I were driving down the block. "Why did you suddenly pulled me out of the restaurant?" I asked him.
"I don't know, I just didn't wanna stay there," he said calmly.
"Then what do you have in mind?"
"Here," he said as he stopped in front of a small building. It was all tinted glass with some classiness to it. I've never seen this place before.
"What is this place?" I asked.
"It's an art gallery," he said as he walked out of the car. I climb out of the passenger seat. It looked bigger from outside the car.
"Art gallery?"
He smiled. "Yeah I wanna show you something."
Inside the building was even bigger. Statues of different sizes were all over the place. Paintings hung on every wall. One painting caught my eye. It was a painting of a little girl on a swing set. It reminded me of my childhood. The one next to it was all colors. Random colors splashed all over the place.
"Interesting?" I motioned to the painting.
Zack laughed softly. His laugh was so cute.
"Yeah... The artist is actually a close friend of mine," he said. "How bout this," he went up to another piece, " what do you think about it?"
The painting was gorgeous. The view was from a top of a mountain, which overlooked the sea. The colors blended well together and it looked realistic. I felt like I was on the mountain.
"This is incredible," I couldn't stop looking at it. Then I scanned the artist's name.
"You did this?" I was wide eyed. Zack nodded. "Zack, this is amazing!"
He smiled. "Thanks. I was really scared to put my artwork up here."
"Why? It's great. Nothing to be worried about."
"I don't know. I thought people won't like it. I thought they wouldn't get it." he said in a worried tone.
"Wait, you only put it up now?" I asked.
"Yeah, you're the first one to see it. There's an art show tonight and I was stressing out about it, thinking people won't like it."
"Well, I'm honored to be the first to see this. And you're worried about nothing. Trust me, they'll LOVE it," I looked up at him. He couldn't help laugh.
"You wanna go tonight?" he asked, "you know, for a friend support."
"No prob!" I smiled at him.
"Zack?! As in Zack the Dork from elementary?!" Kayla exclaimed as she plopped down on my bed.
"Yup. The only one," I said sitting next to her.
"I can't believe it. I mean when I saw him he looked absolutely different," Kayla said, still in shock.
"Me too. What happened to him?" I murmured, remembering him from 5th grade.
"He used to like you," Kayla reminded me.
"I know. He brought it up. Now I feel bad for being so mean to him."
"Ha. Don't tell me you actually like him now," Kayla said, raising an eyebrow at me.
"I just think he's hot," I smiled. Kayla gave me that are-you-sure? look.
"What if he still likes you?"
"I don't think so, Kayla. That was a long time ago."
"You may never know," she poked me on the shoulder. "So, are you gonna see him again?"
"Actually, I'm seeing him in two hours to support his art show. So can you please get out of my room so I can change?"
It's five minutes before seven. I'm just in time for Zack's art show. Damn, it's freaking cold tonight. Good thing I'm wearing my favorite varsity jacket.
I walked in the building and there were lots of people. They were conversing here and there and everywhere. Just then, everyone turned quiet. Then I noticed Zack came out behind the curtains. Lord, he looks so fucking hot in a suit.
"Good evening everyone," Zack smiled. "First of all, I wanna thank all of you guys for coming out tonight." He then directed his attention to me. I felt myself blush. "This has been a great honor to me, to show all of you my masterpiece." Then, he pulled the cover off from his piece. There were "ooooh"s and "aaaaah"s from the people. Zack glanced at me and I smiled in agreement.
After the guests were done congratulating him and talking to him, I finally had a chance to come up to him. "That was awesome," I told Zack.
"Thanks," he said shyly. "I wasn't expecting that reaction from the crowd."
"Come on, that was a really awesome painting."
"I was just so worried about people's reactions. Honestly, I didn't think my artwork deserved to be displayed here," he said.
"You're worried about nothing. Everyone loved it, I loved it," I said trying to encourage him. His eyes lit up. Wow! They're so green. They're so bright.
"Oh my gosh! Can we get a picture with you?" A girl said. She and a friend came up to Zack and they were jumping on their toes. Zack looked at me. "Uhhh... Sure," he said unsure.
"It's okay. I'm leaving anyway," I hugged Zack then waved goodbye at him.
