Izukus mind was fuzzy, he could make out the sound of a machine wearing and beeping, his own breath sounded loud against his pounding ears, thousands of footsteps seemed to reverberate through his whole being incomprehensible chatter surrounding him. His breath quickened as the noise swelled to a deafening level encompassing everything. As he grimaced his face burned hotter the sun. Loudest of all where the screams that came from his own mouth, in a desperate attempt to negate the torrent of sound he clasped his hands over his ears. The effort was however in vail as the sound continued thundering through his body.
He struggled desperately as he felt hands grab him each like an individual ball of fire against his sensitive skin pushing him down restraining him. Cold metal pieced his neck and he felt himself loosing consciousness, falling back into the safety of senselessness.
It took five months for izuku to be able remain conscious without screaming. Five months of hell. He knew the hospital staff were sick of him, the only person who seemed to care was the only person who had ever cared the only reason he pushed though.
Inko midoryia spent ever moment she could at her sons side. She worked two jobs so she could make sure he got the best treatment, held his hand as he screamed, read him story's as he slept, until fianally his condition started to improve. It was a slow journey but the destination appeared to be in sight. For everyone except izuku after all, for today was the day the doctors were going to tell him he'd never be able to see again.
Inko had been dreading it, her son had already lost so much in his short time on this earth, in truth she didn't know if he could take another hit. So it was obviously a shock to her when her sons only reaction was to smile and admit he'd expected as much before thanking the doctor for all of her hard work. To most anyone else that smile would look like the sweetest most innocent genuine smile they had ever seen, but inko wasn't just anyone, having been with izuku his whole life she could tell that smile had lost all the warmth it once had, to her it looked like her son was wearing a mask.
A week later izuku was alone in his room trying to focus his senses on what his doctor was talking about. Said doctor was currently residing in her office which was located on the floor below him and she had mentioned him haveing a visitor. There's no way he should of been able to find this out and yet, he heard it clear as day. He knew for a fact his mother was working and and as she had been his sole visitor he was left with no inclination on who could be on their way. He carefully listened to her conversation. "So you'll be here in half an hour..." she must be on the phone izuku thought recognizing a distorted sound, he attempted to focus on the sound but found he was unable to decipher it, although he'd improve greatly from screaming at the smallest noise he had quite developed the finesse needed to truly utilize his new found hearing to its fullest extent. "He's doing well, he took the news about his sight much better than expected......no......your quite right......well there is something, as strange as it sounds it seems like with the loss of sight, some of his other senses have become... somewhat heightened, he hears things he shouldn't be able to, he can tell what his meals are before they've even left the kitchen and... I don't know if I should really be telling you this but one of the nurses came back from checking up on him saying he had been made uncomfortable, apparently midoryia said he could smell something wrong with him, anyway it obviously got to the nurse as he got himself checked out...... yes there was, the nurse had cancer, if he hadn't found it so early it could of killed him, instead he was declared cancer free last night. This isn't the the hospitals official opinion but I think midoryia smelt the cancer... no i don't think so.... we carried out all sorts of tests and he's definitely quirkless, so I did some research and apparently this kind of thing has happened before, apparently in the pre-quirk era there are reports of slight heightening of the other senses after one is lost, never on this scale but I think it's a possibly..." the doctor stopped talking for a moment and her voice was slightly disappointed when she continued, "yes your probably right...... yes it could of been a coincidence ...... yes we'll see you in 15 minutes then ...... goodbye." Izuku carefully mulled over the information he had gotten from that call as he tried to identify his mystery visitor. For his doctor who was normally both strict and professional to disclose confidential information she must hold them in very high regard, when she was talking to them there was obvious excitement in her voice, she was keen for them to hear her theories and extremely disappointed when they didn't agree. He had never heard her talk to anyone like that before. He also gathered that the person had been keeping updated on him for a while due to his doctor only mentioning resent updates and the fact the person seemed to already know of his condition. The question was who was someone his doctor held in high regard that cared about him enough to keep updated on his condition. He realized it was likely someone there that day he doubted it was any of his bullies, then the only other person there, his eyes widened in shock, unless there was someone else there then could the man he saved be watching over him? but then he remembered his doctors disapproval when speaking about the man after izuku inquired after him, his doctor had disclosed that the was fine and was starting a new job but also mentioned she doubted he'd keep it with his attitude, there no way she was talking to him.
But they were the only people at the scene, no one before then cared about him enough to come to his aid other than his mother so it had someone at the scene who was affected by his actions. Unless there was someone else that cared before hand, could his father have heard about what had happened, in that case he would have contacted inko not his doctor. Izuku sighed he was getting no were focusing on it being someone who cared about him so he instead started thinking about who his doctor admired, she didn't show it often but he was under the impression she was a big hero fan. The fact She had once corrected inko when she had got a detail wrong about a hero fight and other small hints were more than enough to tip izuku of. Could she of been talking to a hero? A hero must of shown up at some point with all the commotion on the bridge, that would explain a lot but which hero. Izuku didn't have time to try and figure out which hero as he heard a booming voice coming from the hospital's reception desk.
