Episode 4 "I won't let anyone hurt you Sonic"

Shadow's POV
I woke up in the morning. I feel better now. Let's just forget about yesterday... Hope Sonic will forgive me for wasting his time... I walked out of bedroom to living room. There he was. Sleeping on the couch. I walked closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Wake up Faker, we still have a mission to do" I shake him gently.
"Mmm... Five more minutes...."
He want to sleep a little more? No way! I want to finish this damn mission already! I get on top of him and shout:
"WAKE UP SLEEPYHEAD!!!"
He open his eyes fast and saw me on top of him, then looked away.
"I'm awake... You can get off..." He was embarrassed, I can see that.
"Now let's go finish our mission already" I said and get off him.

[Later (already in lab) in Eggman's base]

Sonic's POV
I was looking if someone is coming. I was in fight position, ready to attack at any time.
"Ok, I have all I need to have. We can go back" Shadow whisper.
I turned around to face him.
"Good. I'm bored already" I whisper. It's really boring here. Then I felt something hit my back and I gasped. It was a dart.
"S-Shadow... W-Watch out... S-Someone is here..."
He looked shocked. He was trying to find the one who shot me.
"S-Shadz please... Run..."
Soon my vision become blurry... I only saw Shadow running... but not running away... He was running to me...

Shadow's POV
I saw a dart in Sonic's back. He was laying on the floor, starting to pass out. I run to him, kneel down and hug him to protect him.
"Don't worry Sonic, everything will be fine. I won't let anyone hurt you" I said as I saw Eggman coming closer to us. I pulled Sonic close to my chest.
"Get away Egghead or I'll kill you!" I growled at him.
"I think you have something that isn't yours" He pointed at the documents.
"Grr, maybe I have and what are you going to do about that?!" I growled again.
"I think you already know what I'm going to do about that" Eggman pointed at Sonic.
"Why do you even care about that blue rat Shadow? I though he is your rival" He said. I looked at Sonic. He was so innocent.... Why...? Why you Sonic...? He should shot me not you... Tears start falling down from my eyes.
"He is not a rat! He is important for me and I don't want him to be in pain! I'll try my best to protect him!" I was crying but at the same time I was mad. Seeing Sonic like this reminds me of... Maria.
"What's wrong with you Shadow?! You are starting to have soft heart because of him! Where's the Shadow I know?!" Egghead shouted.
I stand up with Sonic in my arms.
"I am the new Shadow. I care about my friends and their life. The Shadow you know disappeared" I run out of lab fast and then Chaos Control me and Sonic to home.
