Breakthru: A Maylor Fanfiction

It all started off like this...

"Dentistry. Period!" Micheal shouted.

"No!" Roger shouted back.

"You're really stupid you know. You won't make a living out of music!"

"I will. Trust me please, at least once!"

"Remember. Your mother and I bought you a birthday gift when you were little, it was a dentist's set. You loved it!"

"See, you said it yourself. It was when I was little. Now, I'm 19. I'm an adult! I make decisions for myself, you don't dad!"

"Watch your manner when you're speaking with your father, son!" Winifred scolded Roger.

"Mom! Say something please."

"You're going to be a dentist!"

Roger looked at the two angrily. He was speechless.
"Wasn't my happiness the thing that matters!"

"Yeah, but also money's important for your life!" Micheal shouted.

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!" Roger screamed and went to his room. It was the time for leaving. College was starting in a few days so, he had to go anyways. It was a boarding school. Clare entered his room.

"Please don't go Roger..." She said, looking at him with tearful eyes.

Roger looked at his little sister with saddened eyes. He took his luggage, went downstairs and opened the door.
"Where are you going?!" Winifred asked.

Roger ignored her and starting walking to the train station.

Smoke was coming out from Roger's ears. He was fuming with anger! It was unbelievable! Nobody was caring about him.

When he arrived at the train station, he bought his ticket and started waiting. The time came and he got in the train. He found a seat and sat down. He was tired from all the arguments. He put his elbow on the window, layed his head on his hand and fell asleep a little while after.

He heard the speaker and woke up, it was his time to leave. He got off and started searching for an hotel.

He searched and searched and searched. Finally, he found an affordable one. The problem was, after he payed for it, his wallet was almost empty. Even the afforable one was expensive! He had forgotten to take extra money when he left the house. At least, he was staying there only for two days, the rest would be free because his family had payed it already.

School Starts(2 days later)...

The people started coming to the school and started settling. The first day, there were no lessons. The students were getting used to the enviroment. Roger was staying in a room with 3 more people. There were two bunkbeds. They met and started chatting but they weren't people that Roger could really be friends with. This was a disappointment.

The next day...

Roger rushed to his classroom holding his notebook and pen. He hadn't heard the bell. He went through the door at the last second, before the teacher closed it. He sat down and sighed with relief.
Maybe dentistry isn't so bad at all... He thought.

When the class ended, Roger ran out.
He wasn't feeling okay. He was disgusted just by the first lesson! It was break time at last!

Dentistry isn't bad, it's awful!
He thought.

He decided to wander around the school a little bit, to clear his mind. He came across the library.
It took his attention. There were millions of books on the shelves, from every genre, from every size and color.
He went in. He chose a book to read and sat on a chair at the table. There was only one more person at the table. He had straight, dark brown hair, down to his neck. He was reading a book about the Milky Way galaxy. Roger started reading his book about plants and ecosystem. After a couple of minutes, Roger got distracted and bored. He looked at the other man who was quickly turning pages and reading the book.

"I guess you like astronomy, huh?"

"Hm?" The man said, looking up to Roger.
"Sorry I didn't hear you, can you repeat please?"

"Astronomy. I think you like it."

The man laughed quietly.
"Yeah, well I study astrophysics."

"Cool!"

The librarian shushed them. They apologized.

"I haven't seen you here before, are you new?" The man was very friendly but was clearly an introvert.

"Yeah it's my first year. Which grade are you in?"

"Third...What are you studing?"

"Dentistry but I hate it already."

"Then why did you choose it?"

"I didn't. Family pressure..."

"Ow, sorry about that mate but maybe you should switch to biology or something."

"Hey, I loved biology in high school! How did you understand that?"

"Your book..."

"Smart."

They heard the bell.

"What is your name, by the way?"

"Brian. Brian May. What's yours?"

"Roger. Roger Taylor."

They got up and started walking to their classrooms.

"Goodbye Brian."

"Bye Roger."

After the classes, Roger went to talk with the principal. The principal accepted his request. Roger walked out of the door as a biology student. He was no longer a dental student.
Roger told Brian this on the phone since Brian was going to his house everyday after school. His house was near the school so he didn't have to live in the school. He was living alone.
Brian congratulated him and they ended the call.
