Audrey's POV Sep 12th, 7:07 p.m.
Me and Luna were walking up the road to get to the Hotel, and the further up we got the more I noticed a putrid stench, I can't put into words how horrible it was, it was like something fucking died drowning in skunk spray or something.
We stepped in the Hotel and the small was stronger than before. "What the fuck is that smell!?" Luna harshly whispered into my ear. I didn't say anything, cause I truly didn't know.
We walked up to the front desk and nobody was there, Luna rang the bell on the desk. Strange, I didn't think Hotels still had those. I could be wrong.
"HELLOOO???" Luna said, loud enough, I'd say.
"Maybe nobody works here, wouldn't surprise me. This whole ass town is more dead than my parents sex life." I said sarcastically as I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Bullshit," Luna said, "Somebody has to be paying the electricity bill for the dim-ass lights everywhere." She finishes, giggling.
While we were giggling like school girls in the most inappropriate situation, an older lady came from the backroom.
"Can I help you?" She asks. Sounding less than enthusiastic.
"Yes. Hi. Could you find me and my friends a room or two? We won't be here for long, the others will be h-" she cut me off,
"Room 31, here's the key." She said with the most monotone voice I've ever heard.
"Oh, uhh, thank you. But what about the others?" I asked,
"Big enough to share." She said before going back into the room.
"Well, alright? Fuckin weirdo." Luna said, lowering her voice for the last part, "so we sharing a bed for the night, Audrey?" Luna asked me,
"Sorry Luney tunes, but I'll probably be sharing with the boyfriend tonight."
"Right. I guess that makes since, haha."
"Not that I wouldn't appreciate you making sweet love to me all night long, but that would be very disloyal of me." I say with no seriousness in my tone whatsoever.
"Oh jesus!" She said horrified,
"Oh, come on, you know you love it."
"Fuck. Off." She said, smiling.
We headed up the first hallway in silence, then we made it to the first flight of stairs.
"Hey, why did you want to head to your hometown anyway? If you don't mind me asking of course." Luney tunes is getting chatty it seems, well that's alright.
"Well, if you must know, my parents haven't been getting along lately and..." I trail off.
"And what?"
"They're getting divorced, Luna."
"Oh my god Audrey I'm so sorry to hear that." She sympathized.
"Don't be, it happens." I admit.
"It seemed like they were made for each other though? Like they were married for like 30 something fucking years right?" She questions,
"Yeah well you'd think a lot of things. But my Dad cheated, he was the only person my Mom ever loved. And she's devastated, understandably." I answer.
"That's why I tell Micheal to ease up on her. At least for this trip" I finish.
"But why did you bring all of us?"
"I figured that you guys could come and hang out and make shit not so shitty, you know? Pretty selfish now that I think of it." It was, it was very fucking selfish of me.
All of it was a selfish coverup.
