Preparation

"Talaga? Kanino mo nalaman?"

"Sa pinsan ko, sa Saint Anthony kasi siya nag-aaral."

It was Wednesday morning and I'm silently sitting on my chair. Kaunti pa lang kaming nasa loob ng classroom. Everyone was busy talking with their group of friends samantalang ako ay tahimik na nangmamasid lang, when suddenly, these two girls came in.

They're talking about something—rather someone while they're on their way to their respective seats. Nang mailagay ang bag ay tuloy pa rin sila sa kwentuhan.

"Dami talagang issue ng school na 'yan 'no?" My classmate who had a petite body said.

"Yup, good thing I have a cousin who studies there, updated ako sa mga chismis," ani ng kasama niya at humagikgik.

My another girl classmate suddenly rose up in between them and held their shoulders. Sanhi para gulat na balingan siya ng mga ito.

"May narinig akong chismis. Bakit? Anong issue? Sinong may issue?" Anne Klein asked.

"Napaka chismosa mo talaga ano? Basta mga ganoon lakas ng radar mo!" The other girl said and jokingly rolled her eyes. Aleah, is it? I'm not really sure pero ganoon ang naririnig ko.

"Ano nga? Napakadamot ng mga 'to! Pag ako nga may chika sinasabi ko sa inyo!" Napapangusong sambit ni Anne Klein.

"Ito na, nanunumbat ka pang gaga ka!" Tatawa-tawa namang sagot ni Aleah.

I'm really bad at memorizing names. Kaunti pa lang sa mga kaklase ko ang kilala ko sa pangalan. To think that we're now on our second semester.

Or maybe was it because I don't really care about them?

"Kasi, sabi ni Jemimah—"

"Sino si Jemimah?"

"Pinsan ko nga! Pwede mamaya ka na magtanong ha? Patapusin mo muna ako sa kwento ko kung interesado kang malaman!" Singhal ni Aleah kay Anne Klein.

"Oo na, gagalit ka naman agad madam!" Humalakhak siya.

"Anyway, sabi ng pinsan ko, umalis na raw si Sky dito." She said and the two girls were attentively listening to her.

Kahit ako ay nakuha ang interes ng pinag-uusapan nila. I was just listening to them but in my peripheral, I can see them. Pumabilog sila ng upo at mas pinaglapit ang isa't isa.

"You mean, Sky Ethel? Yung nag...?" Then they glance at me knowingly.

I tilted my head a bit at agad naman silang nag si-iwasan ng tingin.

These people... they're making me laugh. Why dare talk about something surely can be heard by the people whom they're talking about but careful enough for them not to be heard?

They're all nothing but a bunch of worthless coward quidnuncs who love to feast with other people's life.

The audacity of them to talk about someone behind their back but when asked regarding school matters, they'd keep their mum shut.

"Oo girl, siya nga." Aleah affirmed with conviction. "My cousin said she left the Philippines. At ang rason? Simply because she's crazy. As in, literally crazy." She uttered completely with disdain written on her face.

From here, rinig ko ang malakas na singhap ng mga kasama niya.

"Sabi ko na nga ba at parang may mali talaga sa babaeng 'yon the first time I saw her. I mean, we all know kung gaano siya ka-obsess kay Leo diba?" Anne Klein said.
