A grin played on the young boy's lips. His plan was working perfectly, soon the young girl would fall into oblivion and that would be it—or so he thought.

"I know you're here, Death." She said, pacing on the ledge. "I know what you want, I want to make a deal."
He appeared in his human form. "And what would that be, Artemisia?" His hands in his pockets, the cold breeze rushing through his hair.
"I'll give you my soul, if you listen. You don't have to act upon anything. Just listen." She heaved a sigh.
"What?" He squinted in confusion, "I'm the God of Death, and you're telling me to listen? A lowly human?"
"Please, do you not want my soul?" She stood at a halt.

He could grant her immortality, leave her and see what happens. He'd get to see what type of person she really was, let her true colours shine through.

So he did.
