Chapter 6: A Deal

"Save the world?" Sam questioned getting up out of the bed. The three nodded their heads in unison. Sam looked back at Frost who gave the same puzzled look that Sam had. Sam turned his head back at the people.

"So how do we save the world?" Sam asked.

"Oh, simple, just come with us," They moved towards the door motioning for the rest to come with.

"Woah Woah Woah! Hold up for a minute!" Frost paused as the three random people turned around to look at her. "Do you need all of us?" 

"Oh yes yes! Now come along!" One person in a red mage robe answered. The other two were in a blue and green robe respectively The trio used magic to lift Sam, Frost, and Holly in the air and throw them out of the hospital. They landed outside on some grass when Baron came over and began licking the three.  

"Baron! Calm down!" Holly said laughing at Frost who was trying to stay dry. The other three people came up to them. 

"We must not dawdle! Come along!" The three began to walk away from the hospital when someone charged straight at them, yelling gibberish. The stranger put his hands up, causing the surrounding areas to become extremely heavy. Every second the nearby ground on the trio of magic users became heavier and heavier. The three were forced down to the ground when the stranger asked. 

"Can you please listen to me now!" He paused for a minute to catch his breath. "I want to join you, yet you leave and go after whoever the hell these people are. I can easily kick their asses. " He lessened his hold on the three.

"Again Kaleb, the council doesn't want you, you are gone, a person who is not ready.  Why can you not understand this! We are just recruiters, we do not choose who comes with us, trust me, we shocked when we saw their names too." The one in the red robe teleported behind Kaleb.  Kaleb looked back and glared at the mage. 

"Why! These three haven't been through anything! They probably think they are all the shit! Well, they aren't anything compared to me!" He yelled while glaring at Sam. "I saw you before! You were stuck under a tree! Honestly, I am shocked that you didn't just die. That fact that they accepted you is such an honor, an honor you will never understand!" Throughout the entirety of his speech, Kaleb never took his eyes off of Sam, he slowly gained anger with every second that passed by. He stopped lowering the gravity near where the mages were and expanded it near where Sam was, pinning him down. 

"See look! If I can easily push him down how can HE be accepted?" Kaleb steadily increased the gravity on him. As soon as Sam was on the ground Holly and Frost looked worried. Sam was uncomfortable but not in pain, he continued to lay there giving a thumbs up to Holly and Frost so they didn't worry.

"Wow. This kid is even more pathetic than I thought, he can't even escape this simple move!" Kaleb continued to brag and increase the gravity of Sam. Sam realized that if he did not stop this, he would end up with a lot of broken ribs. a wall of black liquid appeared behind Kaleb. The liquid moved towards him surrounding him and slowly building up. The gravity on Sam was back to normal as Kaleb screamed from the inside of the cylinder. The cylinder collapsed onto Kaleb and wiped him down to the floor right where Sam was standing.  

"See, you are not ready!" The red-robed mage yelled. Kaleb got up, glaring at Sam and turning around and flipping off the mages. Frost and Holly were cheering and the red mage went to talk to Kaleb.

"You wanna pull yourself together?" He asked with a stern tone.

"But you won't talk to me. that is a nonstarter." Kaleb replied looking back at Sam.

"What is there to say? You came to us wanting to join us, and from the look of it, we can see you are a powerful fighter. I would love to have you as a part of the team to save the world, but you are too cocky. It is easy to see. I am sorry Kaleb but you cannot join us."  The mage looked at the floor as he walked over to Sam. Kaleb was stunned. He turned around starting at one of the mages. He ran over grabbing the red mage.

"A duel." He stated.

"What? No, you will not!" He said with an angered tone. Kaleb turned to Sam and gave him a glare.

"Fight me now! We'll see if you are truly ready!" Kaleb yelled.  Sam looked at him then at the mages. He walked ten paces away from Kaleb and turned back to look at him.

"Alright. Now this will be fun!" Sam said laughing.
