You had cleaned your house before setting your stuff down at their new places. You had decorated your attic to a cozy place which you used as a small library if you ever wanted to read, or just as a place to chill. You had Diwi and Joe come back to help you move your newly purchased queen sized bed into your room, and the new grey sofas into the living room and help with some other stuff. Pretty much everything in your house was new. The reason being that you've saved up a decent amount of money while you lived at your parents'. You had everything you ever wanted, nice parents and a good job to independence. But it always felt like something was...
Missing.
"There! All done." Joe sighed as he slumped down on your grey armchair right beside a lamp that stretched over his head. Diwi sat down on one of the sofas, "Yeah. Congratulations [Y/N]. This place went from literal dust heaven to a beautiful home. In just three, four days!" He streched his arms before moving them to the back of his head.
"I would've said 'unbelievable' but it's not," Joe started seriously, looking directly in your eyes making you slightly confused. Diwi turned his head to stare at his friend, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes wide open. He opened his mouth but slowly closed it again and regained his posture on the sofa, smiling.
What?
"It's not unbelievable because!- you had me. I am awesome, of course it would be a great job." He finished while laughing and Diwi joined him. A smile played at your lips when you thought of something, "Would any of you like water? As a sorry for last time" You asked. Diwi closed his eyes for a short moment before opening them again, "Mm, yes water would be great" he answered.

You, Diwi and Joe had some talk and eventually became good friends. You had learned that Diwi actually was a part time actor, "You see that house over there?" He pointed at a faded yellow house right in front of yours. You nodded waiting for him to continue his story. "Well I actually auditioned for a movie over there" he turned to you, "I actually never knew what the movie was about but I wasn't able to get the main role because some shoe said so" he chuckled out thinking back at the memory.
"A.. a shoe?" You furrowed your eyebrows, "that's... impossible". Joe suddenly laughed out loud, "I swear to god, the weirdest things happens at that house". You hummed, eyebrows still furrowed, thinking about how the shoe thing was possible. You'd have to go meet the person who lives there sometime.
"Well, [Y/N], it's time for us to go. It's getting pretty late." Diwi said and sat up from your sofa. He looked at his coworker who also sat up, but with a slight frown seen. "Your armchair is really really comfortable. If I were you I would ditch that bed and sleep on this" He joked and pointed to your armchair. You laughed, "Well you're free to come at any time".

You followed Diwi and Joe outside, mostly to talk but that wasn't your real reason. As the two men laughed about a joke you just made you took a good look at the house in front of your own. The sun had set and the sky had gone slightly darker than before. Shadows casted on the friendly looking house and you could see the TV from their window.
"The Children" huh? isn't that a show for kids?..
"Bye, [Y/N]" a voice cut off your thoughts and dragged you back to reality, "see you soon" you quickly answered Joe, seeing them get into their truck and drive away.
You wrapped your arms around yourself as you realised how cold it was outside, "shit" you cursed and made your way back to your house. But just as you were about to close the door a car stopped and parked right in front of the shoe guy's home.
A familiar red car.
