"Hey Tom, what are you doing here?" You asked, kind of embarrassed you almost called him 'dad'. He seemed to have noticed as he let out a loud and teasing laugh, "dad? Didn't know you were into that kind of stuff", he laughed even louder as you looked down at the ground, "shut up, Tim." You groaned, red in face. "I'll never forget that [Y/N]" he said. You punched his arm playfully but very hard. He let out a "lame" and rubbed his upper arm right under his shoulder where you had punched him.

"It's just that my parents are coming over and I didn't know until an hour ago or so" you said. Tom rolled his eyes, or what seemed to be a roll, "excuses excuses". You snickered, "yeah sure. Want to come inside?". Tom rubbed his head, "Yes, no" he thought, "Well, Edd sent me over to ask if you wanted to come over?" You shook your head, "I can't, parents as I said." You answered, "why didn't he come over himself?". Tom laughed a dry and sarcastic laugh, "Actually no one wanted to come."

"Oh" you said, feeling a little sad. Tom saw your expression, "Not in that way [Y/N]" he said quickly, "I mean that everyone wanted you to come over, only that everyone is lazy so they voted" he said before pointing to himself, "and guess who's the lucky one with three people against him". You laughed and bowed down your head, "you're the chosen one". Tom gave you an "hmpf" and was about to say something when a car pulled up into your driveway, "well I'm guessing that's your parents?" he nodded towards the car, his eyes never leaving yours. "I better get going or Edd and Tord are going to pull a prank on me" Tom sighed and started stepping away from your house, "Last time they 'pranked' me Edd broke Susan."

You glanced back at your parents car, them trying to park perfectly, "Who's Tord and Susan?" you asked once you looked back at your friend, only to see him back at his own house closing the door. "And how do you break someone.." you mumbled to yourself, "Did he mean like a bone or something?"

"Hi [Y/N] sweetie!" you heard your mother's voice call out for you. "Hello dear" your father went up and hugged you along with your mum. "Hey," stepping aside you let them inside, "come on in!". They were looking around as you took them on a tour, showing every clean spot. "Well [Y/N]," Your mother was dragging her finger across the top of your TV, "never thought that you could keep a house this tidy". When she was done with examining her digit, her head shot back to look at you, "Now you only need a man in your life". Your father walked over to the armchair beside the window and tossed himslef onto it, letting you and your mother continiue your girly talk.

You crossed your arms, face heating up, "Gosh mum, stop!"

"It's true darling, you cannot be alone for the rest of your life," she crossed her arms as well, mocking you, "If you don't you will regret it". What she had said made you think. She was right after all.

She sighed, "I remember when I first met your father. I didn't even like him. In fact I thought he was an weirdo." Your father raised his head from an interesting book he had found lying around, "you what?". Your mother glared at him, "girls only" she threatened. Taking your arm around hers, she dragged you into the bathroom. "[Y/N], where's your room again?".

---

Your mother gave a lovestruck sigh, "And that's my and [F/N]'s story". Her glossy eyes met yours and suddenly you were pulled into her arms, "sometimes the person you need the most is right before your nose. And often you don't realise it until it is too late."

You could only respond with a muffled "mhm" as she was holding you too tight. She let you go, "And I also really want grandchildren".
