Princess Hours (2019) [HIATUS]

CHAPTER #6

Still wearing matching grey blazer and trouser on top of a white tee, Prince Suho goes back to the palace after attending a meeting with some of the royal foundation directors because the queen ask him to have a lunch together. Although his mother did not say anything, he have his source that somebody is going to join them later.

To be honest, deep down he wish that this matter could get postpone or better, cancelled, but he knows that the arrangement will be happening sooner than he expected.

When he enter the room, he glance at the woman for a split second just to make sure that she is really there, that she also agree to this arrangement before he turn his attention to greet his beloved mother.

“Son, you here! Please do sit down”
Suho take a sit beside his mother, facing the woman that agree to this arrangement, seeing how nervous she looks somehow bring ease to him, because it’s mean that she did not have a pleasant time with his mother and that thing make him feel a little great.

“Suho-ah, this is Bae Joohyun” said his mother who wants to formally introduce the two of them, both Suho and Irene bow their head when they eyes met across the table. They both met before, but not in this circumstance so this actually little awkward for them.

The queen then begin to explain the story of the late king promise to his best friend which is one of the reason why they all gather together right now,
“since we all on the same page right now, I would like to discuss our plan for this arrangement, as you know that the King’s health is not in a good condition and the stability of the country is depending on this arrangement” The news of the King’s health is new to Irene but this more like regular speech that Suho hear many times, “we plan to held the wedding at the end of the summer, which is less than two months from now, and as for the engagement we are planning to announce it in two weeks, so you..” the queen pointed at Irene with a manner hand

“miss Joohyun-sshi have one week to prepare before entering the Palace”
Due all the respect for the queen, Irene did not want to interrupt her but what she just said just confused her “excuse me your grace, about me entering the palace…”
The queen understand her confusion,

“announcing your engagement will gather everyone attention, everything you do or wear or anything that related to you will soon become public interest, you know the drill since you are one of them, and when that happen it will be better if you stay inside the palace”

“I don’t mean to disagree with you, your majesty, but I believe I could handle that by myself”
Irene swear the queen give her one of her smile, the smile that have a lot meaning

“Joohyun-sshi, it is necessary for the crown princess future spouse to be staying at the Palace before the wedding, especially if she did not have any proper education of how to be a royal family” That speech hurt Irene, but she know she could not say anything nor did have any choice.

“You will be taught with the best teacher in the country” Now, Irene knew what her sunbae, Hyukjae means about how the palace is equal to fancy prison, “Secretary Yoo will soon give you the detail about this matter”

Both Suho and Irene have nothing to argue about this matter, and also they both know there is nothing they can do to change this agreement.

It’s lunch time and the queen has order Mrs.Kim to serve them some food that cooked by the best royal’s chef. “Since I have another event to attend to, why don’t you two enjoy this lovely meal together, also use this moment to get to know each other”

the queen said after maids finished serving their food, which is what Irene thought is the fanciest Korean food she ever sees in real life,
After the queen and all the maids left, the two eat in silent and for Irene this moment have been really awkward.

“Do you really want to enter the Palace?” Suho open up a conversation, to break the ice between the two

Irene put down her chopstick, and look him in the eyes “Honestly no, but do I have a choice”

“then, why do you agree to this arrangement?”

“Due all the respect your grace, I agree because I respect my grandfather promise to yours and as you know that I have no other choice”

“aren’t you doing this because of our wealth” that statement come out of nowhere, Suho actually did not intend to make that statement out from his mouth

“excuse me your grace” she suppress the word ‘your grace’ “wealth is not the only reason for every decision that people make, and that goes for me, please do excuse me” Irene get up from her seat and ready to leave the room

“look I’m sorry for I just said” said Suho when he stop her by grabbing into her arm “It is very rude for me to say that. Just, let me take you home”

“no need to do that your grace, I can go home by myself” She try to let her arms go from his grip slowly then walk out the room, hoping not to get lost on her way out.
