Esther drew the bow across the strings of her beloved violin gracefully, the vibrating strings producing a beautiful sound. Her slender fingers danced across the black fingerboard, pressing the strings gently to the fingerboard.
The sounds from Esther's violin faded away as she followed a decrescendo into mezzo piano, and then slowed down the notes the last few measures before ending the song completely.
Esther's music teacher began to clap loudly, and the rest of her lesson group followed. Some shot her looks of envy, but some gave her looks of admiration.
Esther bowed and walked over to her empty seat, next to her best friend, Anne.
"Esther, that was amazing!" Anne whispered into her ear as the next person stood up and walked to the middle of the room for their quarter evaluation.
"Thanks Annie." Esther replied to her friend, grinning from ear to ear. Anne smirked and pointed out the windowe of the lesson room, and there Esther found her group of friends making crazy faces and dancing like psychoed monkeys.
"I'm pretty sure it means 'you did great'." Anne translated, her perfect eyebrows arching up in confusion. Her comment recieved a harsh hush from the instrumental teacher, and the two girls aimed their attention at the boy with his cello, playing a piece of Mozart.
Ester turned her attention back to the window where her other seven friends stood, watching. They had their lunch money out, which obviously meant that the bell was about to ring.
Just as the boy played the last note, the bell rang oud and clear. Esther sprung up from her chair and placed her violin in its midnight black case, lined on the inside wih soft velvet. Strapping her violin securely in there, Esther latched the case closed and jumped up to join Anne as the two ventured outside the door, only to be clobbered by her group.
"I still have to get my folder, you know." 16-year-old Esther stated, and pushed her friends away playfully, giving Sylvia a smack on the side of the head.
Sylvia scowled, but her eyes showed that she was hiding a laugh. Charlotte strode over to Esther and pushed her back into the room.
"We'll meet you in the chaosteria." Charlotte said, aiming a kick at Julie, who had begun to drag her towards the cafeteria.
Esther walked back into the lesson room, the cello boy still packing up his large cello, which was probably half the size of Esther herself.
"Nice cello." Esther complimented, before grabbing her green music folder and sprinting out of the room to catch up with her friends.
Her group consisted of nine girls- herself, Anne, Charlotte, Julie, Sylvia, Tessa, Mercedes, Faith, and Arianna. All were quite crazy, but she had the most fun with them.
Esther slowed back down to a walk, limping silently behind the eight girls with a devious grin plastered upon her face. Esther leapt up onto Tessa, howling with laughter.
"Let us go, oh mighty steed." Esther sang as she kicked Tessa's hips with her black heeled boots.
"I would, if you would stop bitching around up there and stop kicking my sides." Tessa complained before breaking into a run down the hallways, past the hall moniters who scolded them loudly as they headed to the cafeteria.
Charlotte hopped onto Sylvia's back, and Anne leapt onto Julie's back, Mercedes on Faith, and Arianna just ran beside them, laughing hysterically.
