Kayleb's POV
M. Aiden: Don't forget to evade and block Kayleb! Offense is nothing without defense, and while you have an incredible offensive style, your defensive form is subpar at best. In a real fight there are no second chances, if you're caught with your guard down you're dead and that's it. Your assignment this week is to work on your defense. I better see an improvement the next time we're in this training room, is that understood?
Kay: Yes Master Aiden. I understand.
M. Aiden: Good! We're done for today, for what it was you did well. Your skill with the dual swords resembles your mothers, which is impressive. You're not as good as she was yet but you're still young. You have room for improvement, but you have to wor-
Kay: Work on my defense, I get it! But Master Aiden, when are you going to teach me how to use my powers?! You said it yourself, I already have incredible technique. I think I'm ready.
M. Aiden: Are my words going through one ear and out through the other? You must complete all of your basic training before we can move on to energy training.
Kay: But I thi-
M. Aiden: No more buts. Those who think they're ready never are. You must keep working hard until then.
Kay: How will I ever know when I'm ready?
M. Aiden: That's for you to figure out. For now you shouldn't worry yourself. We have plenty of time to help you get caught up with the others.
When it came down to my cousins and I, I was taught the slowest. It always felt like my age was the real reason for the slow process, but that still didn't make sense. Lunarius had better control over her powers than I did, and she's younger than me. It made my head hurt just thinking about it again. I was planning to leave the room so I can go take a bath when I saw the sudden change in the sky through the window. It went from its normal peachy pink to a much darker grey.
Kay: Hey, Master Aiden. Was it supposed to rain today?
M. Aiden: No. I'm pretty sure it's partly cloudy today.
Kay: (Maybe I'm going crazy).
M. Aiden: You know we don't get rain in autumn. If you want to go outside and play just go.
Kay: That's not it Master Aiden, look out the window. I don't think the sky should be so dark this time of the morning.
M. Aiden: It's probably just an eclipse, nothing to get so worked up about. Maybe instead of staring out the window, you should go take a shower and study after you're done. Matter of fact, forget what I said about playing outside. In the meantime I'll be speaking with your father after his meeting to let him know that you're improving, but that you're not focused on what is needed to be done.
As Master had finished talking, my father rushed into the room. The expression on his face was something I've never seen on him before. He wasn't angry, nor was he upset but more like he was scared. My father told me that the number one thing when it comes to surviving is to fear no man. Seeing him so frantic really made me start to question what was going on.
M. Aiden: Good morning my lord. We had just finished training not to long ago. I-
Jon: Sorry to cut you off Aiden but this is urgent. Kayleb we need to go now!
Kay: Uhh.. Let me go take a shower really quick. I'll come see you when I'm done.
Jon: There is no time for that!
My father grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me along with him. As we were rushing through the dark hallways, I could just barely see the maids and butlers scurrying around as if they were in panic mode. As we got to the other end of the hallway, I heard my aunt Sylaria arguing with her sister Willow in a nearby room. At this point all I felt was confusion. For the past four hours since I've been awake, things were calm and quiet. What happened for all of this chaos to erupt? We rushed through the mansion to make it to the backdoor, and from there made our way onto the courtyard. I looked up into the sky and it had felt like my heart had fell into my stomach.
A giant black spaceship was floating in the clouds above our mansion. The fear inside me grew when I remembered that this was the year of conquer, where war can start for no reason. I took a deep breath in attempt to calm myself down. I looked at my father and started to wonder if this would be the last time I'd see him. The last time I'd see my family, my friends, my master, the maids and butlers. I wondered if this was the end of my home. The end of Galatalia.
