I am also wondering about this question. Let's admit the fact that they seemed not to exist nowadays.

Being male is a matter of birth. Being a gentleman is a matter of choice.

One evening, I together with my four office mates were waiting for a bus going home from work.
After waiting for about thirty minutes, the bus finally came. We planned on sitting near each other but it was difficult to find a vacant seat because it's rush hour already.
Meaning, all employees were going home at the same time.
Two found a seat near the door, it's on the middle part of the bus. While three of us were on the back seat.
Finally, the bus started to move. We found a seat but we're starting to feel uncomfortable because the driver was reckless.
We were holding so tight onto the handle because he's like playing a game of maze with another vehicles.
In less than fifteen minutes, we reached Santolan station. The bus stopped for a while to pick up more passengers. Many got up including an elderly couple.
Again, the bus started its journey but the couple failed to find a seat for them. To my dismay, no single man stood up to offer his seat atleast to the old lady.
So the elderly has no choice but to stand. The lady was holding so tight onto the handle while her husband stood at her back to protect her from falling just in case she lost her balance.
Rhoan, one of my office mate was about to stand to offer her seat but it might be difficult for the old lady to come near her while the bus is moving because we're sitting at the back.
I felt pity for the couple while getting pissed to the guys inside the bus. I felt like shouting at them but it's a scandalous way so I just kept my mouth shut hoping that someone will get down so that they could sit already.
After a while, a woman near them stood up and offered her seat to the old lady. A woman, yes a woman.
Shame on them!
When we got down, we can't move on about the issue. We had conversations and each of us shared our opinions about the matter. I can say that we're all pissed.
Everyday going to office and going back home, I noticed one thing. When a girl passenger has good looks especially when she's wearing a skirt, someone stood up to offer his seat to her.
Oh wow, is that a valid reason?
While the others who doesn't want to be disturbed pretend to be sleeping.
Sunday evening, I went to my uncle's mother-in-law to give her dinner. I saw her watching a show on TV and it's 'Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho' aired on GMA 7 network.
They're making an experiment and they chose LRT (Light Rail Transit) as the place of their experiment. They wanted to know if men are still gentleman nowadays.
They installed hidden cameras inside the train and asked a girl to help them. She looks lovely and to my surprise, most of the guys stood up to offer their seat to her.
The same girl got down from the train. Guys from the show made a trick by putting prosthetics on her face so that she'll look ugly.
She took the train once again at the same station. But this time, no one stood up for her.
Funny isn't it? But that's the reality nowadays.
And it seems that the courtesy seat for the elderly, pregnant women and persons with disabilities has no use at all.
C'mon guys wake up! Bring back the old days. Let's remember the time of our grandfathers where they knew the real meaning of the word "gentleman".
