Save Us

First day part 1

Author note: Basically I'm just going to pretend the Brainy didn't come on until season 5. 

Melissa POV

Today is our first day back on set with the girls. Camryn and Renly woke up at 4:30 this morning ready to go. They are running around the house asking every 5 minutes ''when are we leaving?'' Melissa tell's them the faster they get dressed the sooner we get to go. We arrive on set at 6:00 am, 30 minutes before we were supposed to. We would have gotten there later but the girls were really excited to come.  When we pull up the girls are bouncing up and down in there seats squealing in delight. I get them out of the car and they both make a B line for the hair and makeup trailer.  ''Girls wait'' I call out to Camryn and Renly who were running ahead of Me and Melissa. Camryn stops and runs back towards us Renly not far behind her. ''Can you walk faster?'' Camryn asks.  ''We are almost there Cam be patient,'' I say. ''Ugg I don't like being patient,'' she exclaims, Melissa and let out a soft chuckle. ''Remember girls, today we are just doing a table read so you are not actually getting to ''dress up'' okay?'' I tell them. ''Okay,'' Renly says. When we got to hair and makeup I opened the door and  Renly and Camryn run in. ''OMG, your back!!!'' Sharon screamed( the hair and makeup lady) as she grabs both girls and embraced them in a tight hug. She lets go and looks at Melissa and me and gives us both a huge hug and congratulates us. We all talk for a while before we head out to go to our trailers and get settled. 

Melissa POV

We get to Chris and I's trailer and set all of our stuff down mainly some things for the girls to play with while we work like coloring books and a few Barbie dolls.  After that, we all go down to the table read. When we walk in Chyler, David and Katie are all talking. I notice some new people that I have never met before. I'm assuming they are the new people that the writers wrote in to the show.  ''ayeeee there back!!!'' David says from across the room. Camryn and Renly smile but don't stary from me or Chris.  Chyler comes over and gives the girls and a hug which they gladly accept. Camryn eventually starts talking to everyone just like she used to. Renly, on the other hand, stays glued to my side and will only talk to people if they ask her a question. The last time the girls were here Renly was starting to come out of her shell and all of a sudden it's like she crawled back in her small shell.

Renly POV

There are so many people here, I know a little bit of people but I don't know most of them. There is a new girl and there are big scary men. Last time we did a table read I know(knew trying to make it sound like a three-year-old) everyone. I sit down next to Melissa and sissy and we get our coloring books out and start to color. 

Camryn POV

The table reads are sooo boring! I can't read yet I'm only free so we don't get to learn our words until someone reads them to me and Renly.  There are a lot of new people here, they look scary there big people. I sit next to sissy and Chyler and make sure that none of the scary people come near me or sissy.

Chris POV

The table read goes great! the girls do there usually thing and color the whole time while the adults read. I still need to meet the new cast members I think their names are Jesse Rath and Sam Witwer.  There is also another kid getting written onto the show(mid-season).  She will be playing Alex's adopted daughter, she looks to be about six or seven years old. When the table read is over I start gathering up my script and pencils, I feel a tap on my shoulder. ''Hi, my name is Jesse, I just thought I would come and introduce myself,'' Jesse says. ''Hi Jesse, I'm Chris and this is my wife Melissa,'' I say gesturing to Melissa who was currently helping the girls pick up the coloring books. She turns at the mention of her name. ''Hi, I'm Melissa, so nice to meet you.'' She says. ''Nice to meet you too,'' replied Jesse. When Renly and Camryn see Jesse their whole deminer changes. Camryn grabs Melissa's leg and Renly is about to do the same but I pick her up before she has time to. ''So are these the girls who play your daughter?'' Jese asks. ''Yes, this is Renly she's a little bit shy at first but she will come around,'' I say.  Renly currently had her head buried in my neck with a death grip around my neck. ''That is Camryn,'' I say pointing to Cami who is currently hiding behind Melissa. Jesse continues, ''It's very nice to meet you girls, my name is Jesse.'' 

Jesse POV

The girls seem very conformable with Chris and Melissa which I find somewhat strange considering there not the girl's real parents. I have worked with kids before and it's very hard to form a bond with young kids and actors who play there parents. These girls act as if Chris and Melissa are their parents. Speaking of parents, where are the girl's parents? kids always have a parent with them when there on set. The young lady who is playing Alex's daughter has her mom with her. The other strange thing is that the girls seem very timid and nervous. I assume it is because they are still so young and meeting strangers can be scary. 

Melissa POV

when Jesse walks away the girls seem to relax, Camryn finally let go of my leg and goes over to Renly and convinces her to let Chris put her down. I got over to Chyler and Katie and we all catch up on life. I tell them about the adoption and everything that happened. I look over at the girls and see Camryn, Renly, and the new little girl all playing together. When they met I don't know but, I am glad there is another kid on set. ''What is that little girl's name?'' I ask. ''That is Ava she's seven years old, and that is her mom Cathy'' Chyler says pointing to a woman talking to David and Jesse in the corner. Chyler continues, ''she's a super sweet girl very smart and outgoing. Her mom is very nice and thankfully not one of those crazy stage moms, at least from what I can tell.'' '' What about that Sam dude, is he nice?'' I ask. ''I'm not sure he seems a bit distant but it could just be first day jitters,'' Chyler says.

Camryn POV

I met a new friend her name is Ava! Me, sissy and Ava play ring around the Rosie. I hear someone come up to us. I turn around and see a scary man, he looks like old daddy! I want Melissa but I can't see her. I see Renly and Ava and they look scared I run to them and grab there hands. ''Excuse me little girls what are your names?'' The scary man asks. I don't want to answer this scary man, I think to myself.

Chris POV

I see Camryn, Renly, and Ava all huddled together and a man is speaking to them. I excuse myself from my conversation and walk over to them. Immediately All three girls run towards me, I pick Camryn and Renly up and Ava hides behind me. '' Hi I'm Chris, I'm not sure I have met you yet,'' I say. ''I'm Sam, I'm surprised you haven't heard of me,'' Sam says slightly offend. ''No, I haven't heard of you,'' I say. Sam sighs ''So I assume these girls are in the show one way or another?'' He says looking at Camryn and Renly. ''Yes, they play Melissa and I's daughter,'' I say. ''Where are their real parents? Isn't it a bit irresponsible of them to leave their children unattended at a table read? I also couldn't help but notice how bad their social skills are. I asked them there name and they both stood there like frozen statues. If they're going to be so shy why are they in this industry. Wouldnt the show rather have more outgoing kids?'' Sam says. I was shocked I couldn't believe what I was hearing. If I wasn't in a roomful of people or holding the girls I would have sucker-punched the dude. ''These girls are my daughters both in the show and in real life. They froze up when they met you because they grew up with an abusive father so the whole idea men scare them. Thankfully Melissa and I got them out of that house and we recently adopted them. Any more questions you have?'' I say with my teeth clenched. Sam looks at me with eyes as wide as Texas, with no words to say he walks away. I put the girls down and they went back over to there friend as for me I go over to David and tell him everything that happened. By the time I finish telling him the story he looks like he is ready to punch the guy in the face.

Melissa POV

It's about 11:30 and people were starting to leave since we have a half-day. I am talking to Ava's mom, Cathy. She is telling me that this is Ava's first TV job and she is super nervous. I reassure her that she is going to do great and that the cast was great with kids. ''So, are those two little girls your daughters?'' Cathy asks. ''Do you mean in real life or in the show?'' I ask. ''I mean in real life,'' Cathy clarifies. ''Yes, they are my daughters. I'm surprised you figured it out.'' I say. ''well it's not hard to tell, the way they interact with you and the way you interact with them,'' Cathy says. I don't know what to say I just let out a small chuckle and say ''ya'' mentally kicking myself for being so awkward. I go on to tell her the whole story of there adoption. When the conversation started to die Camryn comes over to me. ''Hey Cam, have you met Mrs. Cathy?'' I ask. She shakes her head no and lets out a yawn. I'm not surprised shes tired shes been up since 4:30 this morning. ''Looks like someone needs a nap'' Cathy says. That comment makes Camryn perk up real fast. ''No, I don't I'm not tired see!'' Camryn says as she opens her eyes really big. Cathy and I both laugh as it was clear that she is exhausted. Chris comes over and suggests that we should go home because Renly is starting to get cranky. We say our goodbyes and head home.
