Mega evolution. The act of unlocking a new form. To access mega evolution a pokemon must have a strong bond with it's trainer. Also two mega stones must be present one for trainer one one for pokemon only a select few pokemon can mega evolve. The pokemon must have the mega stone specifically for it. This was the research Sycamore had gathered. It had been a month since Hannah and Gary had first arrived. Hannah and Gary had started to help her father win back some support. Gary had started making more public appearances as well as Sycamore and Hannah. Hannah had started a pokemon ranger unit. Already having training from a ranger in Fiore. The other rangers didn't like Hannah that much thinking she was just doing it for publicity. Hannah was a unit commander her unit was fine but it was the higher ranking rangers that were the assholes.

Before

"Unit assemble!"Hannah yelled

The four rangers lined up.

"Fire unit we have been assigned a mission. There is a warehouse said to contain people doing illegal testing on pokemon. Here's the plan. Blaziken and I will free run until we reach the skyline. Then Ross and Irwin ,these two aren't part of the unit by the way, will inspect. We'll wait for a signal then we'll arrest anyone inside and rescue the pokemon. Any questions?"

It seemed like a fool proof plan at the time. How could they have all been so naive. When they got there the roof had collapsed. They had covered their tracks by blowing up the building. Hannah lay there barely awake seeing the rumble fall above her the last thing she saw was a silhouette of Ross.

Sycamore was not happy to get the news neither was Gary. The ranger Hq wasn't happy to get a failed report either. Hannah had been in the hospital three days. She was unconscious for a while. Luckily she had returned Blaziken before he could suffer any injuries. Her father and Gary took turns watching her. Ross, Irwin, Johans and Hemley all took shifts too. Two bodyguards would watch her along with either her father or Gary. In the palace there was a mini hospital for servants and the family. They had their own doctor. Gary didn't even knew it existed.

After

Hannah woke up screaming Ross and Irwin jumped in alarm. Hannah felt the pain in her right arm and legs. She lay back down putting her left arm over her eyes. The cast on her right arm was heavy. "Your highness you're awake" Irwin smiled.

"I wish I wasn't" Hannah felt three days worth of pain in fifteen seconds.

"How are you feeling?" Irwin asked

"Shit" Hannah said rather slowly her mouth was dry as bones.

"How long have I been asleep?" Hannah asked starting to generate some saliva.

"Three days your highness they're going to take the cast on your arm off tomorrow" Ross answered the guards stared at her.

"Ugh. What time is it?"

"Twenty three hundred hours sir" Irwin checked his watch.

"Exactly?"

Irwin nodded he liked being useful to his boss.

"Is there anything we can get you sir? Anything at all?" Ross asked she was still concerned for Hannah even though she was awake.

"I'm good. I've dealt with worse. This is almost laughable." Hannah started laughing. She lifted her left arm off for over her eyes and sat up.

"Sir please your not meant to sit up" Ross demanded

"I'm fine. Calm your socks" Hannah stretched. It was very satisfactory.

"Sir"

"I told you I'm fine you don't need to worry about me"

"Sir I want to apologise in advance for this" Ross slapped Hannah across the face. It burned against Ross' hand and Hannah's cheek.

"Ross what the living fuck! You just slapped our boss!" Irwin yelled then realised they need to keep it down.

"Sir you need to stop acting like a spoiled brat. You have no idea how worried we've all been for you. You need to stop being so reckless and think about how your actions could affect others. I understand you were brought up without love in Sinnoh but you matter to your father, to Gary, to us. Every member of staff here wants what's best for you. The fate of Kalos rides on you taking over the throne from your father. You carry a direct bloodline that's older then any history book could tell you. And you are worth worrying about. Gary and your father spent days taking shifts watching you until you woke up. Sir you are worth worrying about. However you do need to take responsibility for your actions you may be the heir to the throne but that means someone below you gets the blame. Your father would never blame you or Gary. We took responsibility for that incident even though it was your fault"

"No really it's fine your highness it's our fault really. Please don't fire us" Irwin interrupted Ross.

"No it's not ok"

"Really it is" Irwin protested.

"Irwin stop it she may be our boss but she's still a child that needs to be taught a lesson no to mention an arrogant one. You need to stop being sure of yourself and take a look around and be sure of the ones willing to lay down their life for you. Start trusting some adults to help you carry your troubles that's what we're here for. You can start with us. Me and Irwin don't take direct orders from your father. Our highest orders are your orders. I'm sorry sir I stepped way out line for physically assaulting you" Ross finished.

"You can both leave I just want to sleep. I'm sorry sir we have to be near you at all times"
"Then guard outside the door!"

Ross and Irwin stepped outside the door. They both sat on a chair. "I still can't believe you slapped our boss" Irwin whispered.

Ross shrugged the feeling just came naturally to her.

"What happens if she fires you you'll be back on the front line"

"She won't that was to help her realise that she can trust some people. She's had a troublesome childhood all this is probably hard to adjust too" Ross whispered.

"And you decided to slap our boss"

Ross nodded looking back on it the slap probably wasn't such a good idea.

"Do you think she's mad at you?"

"No"

"Your awfully optimistic for someone that was sent out"

"Let's remember you were sent out too. I bruised her ego pretty bad so she's gathering her thoughts of what to do next"

"You did insult her a lot"

"Well the arrogance did need cutting down to size. With the amount that kid had it was probably nothing" Ross was very good at keeping her whispers at a consistent sound level.

Hannah stared at her scars. They were all above the elbow. Each one was from her grandmother's blade. She would probably have more if she haden't left with Gary. Is that really what people think of me Hannah thought. Her arrogance was to cover up the past of being scared of someone. Now she was stronger, she was a pokemon champion. There was no clock in the room but Hannah could hear a distant one ticking. Hannah tried to sleep but her conscience was heavy. Her world had come crashing down a month ago.

She was lying down now the ceiling swirled above her head. She closed her eyes wanting desperately to fall asleep.
