Two weeks ago, Richard Wentworth Tozier was announced dead...for 4 minutes. Lucky enough the doctors were able to bring him back, at that point the doctors knew Eddie pretty well as he was there every day after school until he HAD to leave. But Eddie was still hopeful, every day he'd go home and pick Joshs brain on information about comas, blood loss and much more. The doctors hadn't picked up on it originally but the knife stabbed far enough to almost hit his spine...so they weren't sure if he'd be able to walk again.

Eddie came in like normal waving at his regular day nurse with a bunch of flowers, Eddie grabbed onto Richie's hand putting on a fake smile. 'Hey Richie, uh, today we had a pop quiz...you're really smart so if you took it you'd probably ace it. Henry tried tripping me in the halls today, his nose is broken in like 5 places! He has to get so many surgeries! They're really trying to get them in jail... Josh said there's hope! I hope you wake up soon, I miss you and I want to tell you something instantly...' He moves in close kissing Richies forehead. 'I love you, Richie.'

He sat down again grabbing Richie's hand again, he gave it a quick squeeze sighing. 'I remember when we first held hands, I thought about how smooth they were... and how natural it felt, you know? Like puzzle pieces.' Eddie laughed at himself just realising he asked a guy in a coma if he understood what he was saying, simple answer? No.

The door buzzed open as Bill and Stan walked in. 'Hey, how's he doing?' Eddie answered. 'Well, no response, but if you look at that monitor! There's a little more activity than normal!' Bill nodded. 'Quick q-questions on b-behalf of Richie, are coma boners real?' Eddie rolled his eyes laughing. 'Uh, yeah...' Stan laughed. 'Jesus! How many times has he had one?' Eddie shakes his head. 'That's his business! Plus mine, and the nurses who laugh.'

Bill smiled. 'W-well, his h-heart monitor picked u-up when y-you s-s-squeezed his hand.' Eddie couldn't help but look over at Richie...Eddie joked. 'God you need to shave your face, you're getting stubble.' Stan asks. 'Why are you talking to him? You do understand he's in a coma right?'

Eddie sighed. 'He can hear us you know, the doctors said it's good to talk to him like he's here, it helps with something...don't remember, but at this point, I'm willing to try anything.' The nurse came in. 'Hey, Eddie.' She put a hand on Richie's good shoulder. 'Hey, Richie! I'm just checking on you!'

Eddie smiled squeezing Richies hand, then he felt something squeeze back?! Eddie jumped a bit looking at him. 'Richie?! Rich!' He grabbed his face with one hand. 'Come on! I felt you grab my hand! Please respond!' No response...just a hand squeeze.

Eddie sighed leaning back into his seat. 'Oh Richard, you suck ass.' He forced out a weak chuckle and it truly broke his heart.
