It was a cold morning with frosted dew dotting the windows and making the green grass outside a pale and icy lime.

She looked outside by peeping past the sky toned curtains, peeling them back ever so slightly to catch a mere glimpse of what was beyond, her eyes mimicking the deep ocean with tones of young life flickering here and there and displaying itself as if it was putting on a show. The reflection shone right through them for her to take in and awe at.

She retreated from the window, quietly treading along the old yet waxed wooden surface her house was based upon and slid her fingers delicately across the surface of the lounge room's coffee table on her way past, catching the feeling of a candy wrapper skip just out of reach. Her soft and innocent eyes pranced up to the far wall while her body made a direct path towards her destination, the calendar. It was the 30th of October today, the red cross marked with a sharpie that lied close by on the smooth printing paper displayed it. She felt a sense of excitement fill her spirited heart, she couldn’t wait until Halloween came along and she was practically counting down the hours at this point.

She stepped away from the calendar for a moment to think to herself, her childish smile soon wavered ever so subtly as she thought to herself, holding hope that maybe this year she would remember what Halloween is like. She has taken all the vitamin tablets she needed and hasn’t been feeling as tired as she usually did, perhaps this year was actually going to become one of the first years she actually gets to experience Halloween and remember it. With her eyes filled with determination she let her feet glide happily across the floor with ease, making every step as silent as the last with all the consideration in the world for her sleeping mother and grandmother, it was quite understandable that they wouldn’t be up as early as she was after all why her mother had that silly nickname for her, ’Early Bird’. She let a small giggle escape her as the memory came back to her for a moment. She soon headed back up to her bedroom, if she was to go out it would be a good plan to dress accordingly. It wasn’t considered normal to go out in your pajamas after all, oh no! Never, only a weird person would do that but there was the issue, she wasn’t normal but her mother and grandmother did try to convince her as such... In public at least.
